Notice of the Taking and Laying-off of Rokai Road through Tamaki No. 2a and Tamaki No. 4a, Block XV, Norsewood Survey District.

NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, under the authority of section 92 of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” that the road known as Rokai Road, described in the Schedule hereto, was, in August, 1905, duly taken and laid off through the land specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said colony, by Warrant dated the 14th April, 1905.

Revocation of Appointment of Bonded Tobacco-manufactory.

IN exercise of the authority in me for this purpose vested, I, the Minister of Customs, do by this order under my hand revoke and annul the appointment of the undermentioned building or premises as a manufactory in which tobacco may be manufactured prior to the payment of duty thereon, viz.:

Port of Auckland.

The manufactory known as
THE BRITISH EMPIRE TRADING COMPANY’S TOBACCO-FACTORY,
as appointed and described in Minister’s Order No. 800, of the 22nd day of March, 1906.

Notice to Mariners No. 17 of 1907.

WANGANUI HARBOUR.

Marine Department,
Wellington, 14th March, 1907.

THE Wanganui Harbour Board notifies that, on and after the 21st March instant, vessels entering the Wanganui River will follow the usual leaders on the Heads until the lower end of the south internal wall is in line with a white leader on the shore, about half a mile below Landguard Bluff; this line they will follow to the lower end of the wall, passing about 50 ft. clear, and keeping the same distance until the upper end is passed, then pick up the usual signal for the upper flats.

During night-time a red light will be placed on each end of the wall, and a white one on the leader below Landguard Bluff.

Notice is hereby given that the buoy marking the above reef has been recently placed in the following position:—

White Cliffs Point .. S. 17° E. mag.

This position is three cables north-east of the Wentworth Reef.

BRITISH COLUMBIA.

GRAHAM REACH.—SWANSON BAY.—WHARF ERECTED.—Captain J. T. Walbran, of the Canadian Government steamer “Kestrel,” reports that a substantial pile wharf has been erected in the north-eastern corner of Swanson Bay by the Canadian Pacific Sulphite-pulp Company. It extends 556 ft. into the bay from high-water mark. The T at the end of the wharf is 96 ft. in length, and has a depth alongside of 27 ft. at lowest tides. Fresh water can be obtained at the wharf.

Approx. position: Lat. 53° 00′ 48″ N., long 128° 31′ 07″ W.

CHATHAM SOUND.—PRINCE RUPERT HARBOUR.—RANGE-LIGHTS AND GAS-BUOYS ESTABLISHED.—The Canadian Government has given notice that the following range-lights and gas-buoys will be established, without further notice, in Prince Rupert Harbour, Chatham Sound, British Columbia:—

An unwatched fixed white light, elevated 65 ft. above high water and visible 13 miles, will be exhibited from a beacon located on the top of Coast Island, in front of the triangular whitewashed day-beacon.

An unwatched fixed white light, elevated 102 ft. above high water and visible 15 miles, will be exhibited from a beacon located on Ridley Island, in front of the triangular whitewashed day-beacon.

Each beacon consists of a steel cylindrical tank standing on a steel framework and surmounted by a pyramidal steel frame supporting a lantern, the whole painted red. The height of the structures from the ground to the top of the lanterns is 23 ft.

The triangular whitewashed day-beacons will remain as day-marks.

A cylindrical steel gas-buoy, painted black and showing an intermittent white light, will be established close off the south-eastern side of Kestrel Rock. This buoy will replace the spar buoy, painted in red and black horizontal bands, which at present marks the rock.

A cylindrical steel gas-buoy, painted black and showing an intermittent white light, will be established off the eastern end of Barrett Ledge. This buoy will replace the black spar buoy at present marking this position.

A cylindrical steel gas-buoy, painted red and showing an intermittent white light, will be established close off Bird Rock. This buoy will replace the red spar buoy which at present marks the rock.
