Volunteer Regulations amended.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by “The Defence Act, 1886,” and “The Defence Act Amendment Act, 1900,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby amend, in the manner and to the extent set forth in the Schedule hereto, such of the General Regulations of the Defence Forces of New Zealand, made on the eighth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and six, published in the New Zealand Gazette of the same date, as are set forth in the said Schedule. And I do hereby declare that such amended regulations shall come into force on the first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and seven.
SCHEDULE.
DELETE Regulation 346, and substitute regulation as under:—
“Capitation will be allowed to any Volunteer who has in all respects qualified as efficient in terms of these regulations.”
Delete Regulation 347.

First Meeting of Representatives of Fire-insurance Companies under “The Fire Brigades Act, 1906.”

PURSUANT to section 4 of “The Fire Brigades Act, 1906,” it is hereby notified that the first meeting of the representatives of the fire-insurance companies for the purposes of the said Act shall be held on Thursday, the 21st March, 1907, at 10 o’clock in the morning, at the office of the Wellington Fire Underwriters Association, in the New Zealand Government Insurance Buildings, Custom-house Quay, Wellington.

THE following special order, made by the Mount Wellington Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

MOUNT WELLINGTON ROAD DISTRICT.
WATERWORKS BY-LAWS.
Ellerslie Water-supply Area.
Regulations for supplying Water to Consumers in the aforesaid Area.

ALL water shall be supplied by meter only, or by the authority of the Board.

Every consumer shall pay at the rate of 1s. 6d. per 1,000 gallons.
-
The minimum charge shall be 5,000 gallons per quarter, and this quantity must be paid for quarterly whether consumed or not.

All quantities the meter registers more than 5,000 gallons for each and every quarter the consumer shall pay for at the rate of 1s. 6d. per 1,000 gallons.

Applications for water shall be made at the office of the said Board, where the necessary forms shall be obtained.

The quarterly period shall terminate on the thirtieth days of March, June, September, and December of each year.

All money due must be paid within fourteen days of the ending of each and every quarter. If not so paid, the Board will turn off the water from each consumer who has not paid.

The Board only agrees to sell water to any consumer on the same conditions as it is supplied to the said Board.

The fees for cutting off and turning on of water by the said Board shall be 5s. each.

The Board is prepared to supply meters at the following rates: Half-inch, £3 5s.; three-quarter inch, £3 15s. Payment for meter must be made when lodging the application for supply.
All meters must be Davies and Shepherd’s make, and a certificate must accompany each meter as to its correctness, and be lodged at the office of the Board before water is turned on from the main. No second-hand meters will be allowed to be used without the approval of the said Board.

The Board will hire meters to consumers at the rate of 3s. for half-inch per quarter, and 3s. 6d. for three-quarter inch, which must be paid quarterly in advance.

Water will be sold from stand-pipe, or hydrant, or from mains to outside consumers at such prices and on such terms as may be agreed by the Board.

No consumer who has requested the Board to supply him with water shall permit any person not an inmate of his household to take any water from the premises of such consumer.

Builders shall be supplied by meter at 2s. 6d. per 1,000 gallons. They shall deposit the cost of the meter, which shall be retained as security that the meter is left in good order. No rent will be charged for the meter, but the cost of laying water on must be paid with the application. The minimum quantities shall be 2,500 gallons per quarter or any portion of a quarter.

All meters shall be enclosed in an iron box of sufficient size to protect the meter, and locks of meters to be uniform and supplied by the Board at the expense of the consumer.

Competent plumbers may be licensed by the Board to lay pipes and do any work in connection with water-supply on payment of a fee of 2s. 6d. for every authority issued.

No plumber shall do any work connected with the water-supply without giving at least seven clear days’ notice thereof and receiving written authority from the officer appointed by the Board.

Plumbers shall be responsible for all damage done or caused by them in performing any work whatever, either through bad workmanship or inferior material, or for any other cause or reason.
