FEATHERSTON TOWN BOARD.
I HEREBY give public notice that on the 18th day of January, 1907, a poll of the ratepayers of the Featherston Town District was taken on the proposal of the Town Board to borrow, by way of special loan, a sum of £700 in connection with the water-supply works, and at such poll the number of votes recorded was as under: For the proposal, 46; against the proposal, 5; informal, 0.
As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal is at least three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

Forbidding the Issue in New Zealand of Money-orders for the Nutriola Company, Chicago, Ill., U.S.A., and the Chicago Silver Company, Chicago, Ill., U.S.A.
THE postal authorities of the United States of America having notified that money-orders payable to the Nutriola Company and the Chicago Silver Company will not be paid, and the Postmaster-General of the Colony of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the companies named are engaged in promoting or carrying on a fraudulent concern, it is hereby ordered, under section 27 of “The Post Office Act, 1900,” that no money-order shall be issued in New Zealand in favour of the said Nutriola Company and the Chicago Silver Company until this order is formally revoked.

Notice of Intention to take Lands for a Road through Subdivisions of Te Maipi Block, 5 and 5a, Block I, Kaiwhata Survey District, Masterton County.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” to execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of a road through Subdivisions 5 and 5a, Te Maipi Block, Block I, Kaiwhata Survey District, Masterton County, and for the purposes of such public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken. And notice is further given that the plan of the said road and of the lands so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Gladstone, and is there open for inspection. And notice is also given that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said lands shall, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such lands, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.

Notice is hereby given that speed-notice boards have been erected on Copper-ore Point, Luff Point, and opposite ocean steamers’ wharf, and the speeds marked thereon must be adhered to.
CAUTION.—The by-laws with reference to speed in harbours will in future be strictly enforced.
This affects Admiralty Charts 2389a and b. 1750, and 1752.

NORTH COAST.—SURABAYA APPROACH.—KLETA REEF.—BEACON ESTABLISHED.—Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 50 (2064) of 1905, the Netherlands Government has given further notice that an iron screw pile beacon, surmounted by a conical top-mark and painted red and black in horizontal bands, has been established in 2 ft. of water on Kleta Reef, eastern channel to Surabaya, north coast of Java.
Approx. position: Lat. 7° 19′ 30″ S., long. 112° 52′ 15″ E.

BRITISH COLUMBIA.
BARKLEY SOUND.—CAPE BEALE LIGHT RE-EXHIBITED.—TEMPORARY LIGHT WITHDRAWN.—Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 36 (1561) of 1906, the Canadian Government has given further notice that the work of rebuilding Cape Beale Lighthouse, located on Cape Beale, western shore of Vancouver Island, has been completed, and on 17th October, 1906, the permanent light was re-exhibited from the new tower, the temporary light was discontinued, and the mast from which it was exhibited was removed.
The tower is similar in size and colour to the old one and stands on the old foundation. The old illuminating apparatus is in use, showing a revolving white light every 30 seconds, with a red sector of 67° 30′ showing over the dangers in Barkley Sound, between the bearings S. 65° 45′ E. true (east mag) and S. 1° 45′ W. true (S.S.E. mag.).
It is intended in 1907 to replace the present light by a modern quick-flashing light.
