proposal of the Council of the said borough, in pursuance of
the powers and provisions contained in “The Local Bodies’
Loans Act, 1901,” and all other powers enabling it in that
behalf, to raise a special loan of £4,000, to be called “The
Drainage and Waterworks Loan (No. 3),” for and in connec-
tion with the following public works—that is to say, (1) com-
pleting the drainage-works already sanctioned, including a
system of purification on the bacterial principle; (2) com-
pleting the waterworks already sanctioned. That the amount
applicable for drainage purposes is to be £2,000, and for
waterworks, £2,000.
That the property to be specially appropriated and pledged
as a security for such loan, and the interest thereon, pur-
suant to the said Act, is to be the said drainage-works and
waterworks the subject-matter of the loan, and the revenues
therefrom (subject to special loans already secured on them),
and a special rate of 5d. in the pound sterling on the rate-
able value of all the rateable property in the borough.
That the whole loan is to be repayable on the 1st day of
March, 1918, and is to bear interest at the rate of £4 10s. per
centum per annum, payable half-yearly.
That in connection therewith forty debentures of £100 each
are to be issued, each payable on the said date, with separate
coupons attached thereto for each half-year’s interest, and
the principal and interest secured by such debentures are to
be payable at the National Bank of New Zealand (Limited),
Dunedin or Mosgiel; and that the cost of raising the loan
and the interest for the first year are to be paid out of the
said loan.
And at the said poll the following votes were recorded:
For the proposal, 54; against the proposal, 32; majority for
the proposal, 22; informal, 1.
I therefore declare the proposal duly carried.

Result of Poll on Proposed Special Loan of £4,000.
In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,”
“The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and “The Local
Elections Act, 1904,” and the Acts amending the same
respectively.
NOTICE is hereby given that the number of votes recorded
upon the taking of the poll on Wednesday, the 23rd day of
January, 1907, for and against the proposals of the Council
of the Borough of Blenheim, set out below, was as fol-
lows:—
(1.) Gasworks.—Purchase and erection of two sets D-
shape retorts, reinstating gas-manager’s house,
purchasing and laying new gas-mains, £2,000:
For the proposal, 108; against the proposal,
117; informal, 42.
(2.) Town Hall.—Furnishing, purchase and erection of
ceilings and proscenium, purchase of piano, and
architect fees, £1,000: For the proposal, 127;
against the proposal, 104; informal, 35.
(3.) Purchase and erection of bridge (borough moiety),
Nelson Street, £600: For the proposal, 127;
against the proposal, 102; informal, 34.
(4.) Sinking deep wells for street-watering and fire-pre-
vention purposes, £400: For the proposal, 102;
against the proposal, 129; informal, 37.
I therefore declare proposals Nos. 2 and 3 to be carried,
and proposals Nos. 1 and 4 to be rejected.

FEATHERSTON COUNTY COUNCIL.
In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and
the several Acts amending the same.
I HEREBY give public notice that on the 29th day of January,
1907, a proposal was submitted by the Featherston County
Council to the ratepayers of the Pahaoa Riding for rais-
ing a special loan of £1,000, for twenty-six years, at the
rate of 5 per cent. per annum, for the purpose of erecting a
bridge over the Huangaroa River, and providing approaches
to same; and that the number of votes recorded respec-
tively for and against the proposal was as follows: For the
proposal, 30; against the proposal, 0.
And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

Result of Poll on Proposed Loan.
I HEREBY give notice, under section 13 of “The Local
Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” that the poll of the ratepayers
taken on the 30th day of January, 1907, on the Kaikoura
County Council’s proposal to borrow £5,000 for the erection
of a new wharf at Kaikoura, by way of special loan, under
the provisions of the aforesaid Act, resulted as follows: For
the proposal, 190; against the proposal, 10; informal, 4.
I therefore declare the proposal duly carried.

a proposal was submitted by the Oamaru Borough Council
to the ratepayers of the Borough of Oamaru for raising a
special loan of £3,000, at £4 10s. per centum per annum, for
the purpose of completing the erection of a Town Hall and
municipal offices now being erected in the Borough of
Oamaru, and that the number of votes recorded respectively
for and against the proposal was as follows: For the pro-
posal, 133; against the proposal, 19; informal, 2; majority
for the proposal, 114.
And I declare the said proposal to be carried.
