Road Board pursuant to this by-law containing any untrue statement, nor conduct the traffic mentioned in any application in any other manner or at any other time than therein stated.

Every person who commits a breach of clauses 6, 7, 8, or 9 of this by-law is liable to a fine not exceeding £20.

This by-law shall come into force on the date of its being gazetted in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
AVONDALE ROAD DISTRICT.
Application to fix Cost of Reinstating Road.
I, [Name in full], of [Address], [Occupation], hereby apply to the Avondale Road Board to fix its estimate of the cost of reinstating roads in the Avondale Road District upon which I propose to conduct traffic. I propose to engage in the conduct of the following traffic, viz.—[Here set out nature and quantity of material to be carried]—upon or along the following roads in the Avondale Road District: [Here set out the roads upon which the traffic is to be conducted].
I propose to convey such material during the months of , in the year , in vehicles of the following description: [Here set out description and number of vehicles proposed to be employed, the width of the tires of each vehicle, the weight of the load proposed to be carried on each vehicle, the aggregate weight of the whole of the material proposed to be carried, and the number of horses to be employed to draw each vehicle].
The common seal of the inhabitants of the Avondale Road District was set and affixed hereto at a meeting and by order of the Avondale Road Board on the 8th day of September, 1906, in the presence of—

THE following special order, made by the Wairau Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

WAIRAU ROAD BOARD.
By-laws Regulation.—Heavy Traffic.
Special Order of the Wairau Road Board made on the 7th day of September, 1906.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by “The Counties Act, 1886,” “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and “The Public Works Act, 1905,” and the several Acts amending the same respectively, and of every other power enabling it howsoever conferred, the Wairau Road Board doth hereby repeal the whole of By-law No. 18 of the by-laws (hereinafter referred to as “the said by-laws”) made by the said Board in 1905, and gazetted in the New Zealand Gazette No. 44, of the 11th day of May, 1905; and doth hereby in lieu of the said By-law No. 18 and in addition to and in amendment of the said by-laws doth hereby make the following by-laws with reference to or in connection with heavy traffic upon or over the bridges, ferries, and fords under the care, control, or management of the said Board:—

The driver or person in charge of any engine shall not propel or cause the same to be propelled along, over, or upon any of the said roads, bridges, ferries, or fords, unless the engine shall be accompanied by at least two other men, one of whom shall be bound to proceed in front of such engine at a distance not more than three hundred yards and not less than two hundred yards, and the other of whom shall be bound to follow the said engine at a distance of not more than two hundred yards nor less than one hundred yards; and it shall be the duty of such men to keep careful watch (the one in front and the other behind the said engine and any vehicle or machine drawn thereby) for horses and vehicles which may be approaching, and to warn the riders or drivers (as the case may be) of such horses and vehicles of the proximity of such engine, and to assist them in passing the engine and its load in safety.

No engine the weight of which shall exceed five tons shall be used or engaged in heavy traffic upon, over, or along the bridge (known as the Waihopai Bridge) crossing the Waihopai Stream, situate at or near the Waihopai Accommodation-house.

By-law No. 19 of the said by-laws made by the said Board is hereby amended by striking out the word “man” where the same occurs therein, and substituting the word “men.”

These by-laws shall be read in conjunction with and shall be deemed to form part of the said by-laws of the said Board; and the said by-laws shall, from the date of the coming into operation of these by-laws, be read and construed and take effect as if By-law No. 1 hereof was mentioned and referred to in the said by-laws in lieu or instead of the said By-law No. 18 hereby repealed. These by-laws shall come into force within the said Wairau Road District upon the date of their publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
I hereby certify that the above by-laws have been duly made and adopted by special order in accordance with the provisions of “The Roads Boards Act, 1882,” at a meeting of the Wairau Road Board held on the 7th day of September, 1906, and the common seal of the said Board was hereto affixed in my presence—

Special Order made by the Council of the Borough of Westport.

THE following special order, made by the Westport Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

WESTPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Special Order.
THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by section 14, (2), and 32, (2), of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Westport Borough Council hereby resolves to borrow by way of special order the sum of £9,300 to pay off gas-works loans amounting to £12,000, less accumulated sinking funds of £2,700, falling due as under:—
£8,000 on the 20th September, 1906; £1,000 on the 20th September, 1906; £3,000 on the 20th December, 1906.
The above resolution was duly passed at a special meeting of the Westport Borough Council held on the 1st day of August, 1906, and confirmed at a special meeting of the said Council held on the 3rd day of December, 1906.

WESTPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Special Order.
THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by section 14, (1), of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Westport Borough Council hereby resolves to borrow by way of special order the sum of £2,700 to pay off the existing overdraft in the Westport District Fund, Gas-supply Account, standing at that sum in the Bank of New South Wales, Westport, on the 25th day of July, 1906.
The above resolution was duly passed at a special meeting of the Westport Borough Council held on the 1st day of August, 1906, and confirmed at a special meeting of the said Council held on the 3rd day of September, 1906.
