YANG TSE KIANG.—WUSUNG RIVER.—WEATHER-SIGS.—On 1st January, 1906, the flags of the international code will be substituted for the Marryat code in making the following weather-sigs. at the Storm-sig. Station (31° 14½′ N., 121° 28½′ E.), Shanghai:—I. The 9.30 a.m. sig., indic. the direction and force of the wind at Gutzlaff at 9 a.m., will be made as follows: The direction, by the flags N., S., E., W., and V. (variable) of the international code, and the force, by the numeral sigs. 0 to 11. Letter U flag signifies calm, and a blue pennant that fog prevails; this sig. is lowered at 10 a.m.; in case of any delay it will be hoisted from 11.30 to 11.50 a.m. At 3.30 p.m. a similar sig. shows the direction and force of the wind at Gutzlaff at 3 p.m.; in case of delay it will be hoisted from 4.15 to 4.30 p.m. II. The sigs. indic. the probable direction and force of the wind on the coast and at Shanghai within the next twenty-four hours will be made as follows:—
