PACIFIC OCEAN.

MATY AND DUROUR ISLS.—During the passage of the
s.s. “African Monarch” between Maty and Durour Isls.,
on the N.E. coast of New Guinea, at 7½ miles from Maty
Isl. the position of that island was found to be practically
correct. The remark on the chart that its position was
8 miles to the erd. has therefore been erased. The approx.
position of Durour Isl. was ascertained to be 19 miles N. 30
E. from Maty Isl., which places it in 1° 29′ S., 142° 57′ E.,
or about 16 miles wrd. of its present charted position. Nov.

SOUTH AMERICA.

RIO DE PLATA.—BUENOS AIRES APPROACH.—The follow-
ing buoys provis. mark the new chan. between Recalada and
Indio Pt. Lt.-vs.: (a.) A lt.-buoy, exh. a F. red lt., moored on
the nrn. side of the chan., 1½ miles N. 47° W. from Recalada
Lt.-v. (35° 10′ S., 56° 46′ W.); the nrn. side of the chan. is
marked by 4 similar buoys moored in a line S. 84° W., and
3¼, 6¼, 9¼, 12¼ miles respectively from this buoy. (b.) A
lt.-buoy, exh. a F. green lt., is moored on the srn. side of
the chan., 1¼ miles N. 64° W. from Recalada Lt.-v.; the srn.
side of the chan. is marked by 4 similar buoys moored in a
line S. 84° W., and 3¼, 6¼, 9¼, 12¼ miles respectively from
this buoy. (c.) A lt.-buoy, exh. a F. red lt., is moored on the
N.-ern. side of the chan., 3 miles S. 85° E. from Indio Pt.
Lt.-v. (35° 7′ S., 57° 6′ W.). A lt.-buoy, exh. a F. green lt., is
moored on the S.-wrn. side of the chan., 2½ miles S. 79° E.
from Indio Pt. Lt.-v. The following marks and buoys have
been withdrawn: 1. The pilot-vessel prev. 2 miles N. 18° E.
from Recalada Lt.-v. 2. The green lt.-buoys, 9 miles
S. 25° W. and 13½ miles S. 19° W. respectively from Recalada
Lt.-v. 3. The Pyra., 15¾ miles S. 10° E. from Indio Pt.
Lt.-v. 4. The green lt.-buoys, 15 miles S. 17° E., 6¾ miles
S. 61° E., 3 miles S. 5° E. respectively from Indio Pt. Lt.-v.
5. The red lt.-buoy, 4½ miles N. 70° E. from Indio Pt. Lt.-v.,
and the black can buoy, 21½ miles N. 73° W. from the same
lt.-v. The wrk. 10¼ miles N. from Indio Pt. Lt.-v. has

REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 48 of 1905,
issued by this Department on 23rd June last, the
following notice, received from the Marine Board, Hobart,
Tasmania, is published for general information.

TASMAN ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE.

With reference to the preliminary notice issued by this
Board, dated 20th June, 1905, it is hereby notified that on
and after the night of the 2nd April next a light will be
exhibited from a lighthouse which has been erected on the
S.E. portion of Tasman Island.

The apparatus will have five sides, 72 degrees each, and
will make a revolution in 25 seconds.

Characteristics of light: White; 1st order; half-second
flash every 5 seconds; visible in mean state of atmosphere
thirty-six miles; height above sea-level, 907 ft.

THE following Notice to Mariners, received from the
Marine Board, Port Adelaide, South Australia, is
published for general information.

GULF ST. VINCENT.—PORT ADELAIDE RIVER.

MASTERS of vessels, pilots, and others are hereby informed
that in connection with the erection of light-beacons abreast
of beacons numbered three (3) to nine (9) inclusive, on the
north and east side of the channel, a barge will be moored
in the stream during progress of the work, and from this
barge an anchor-light will be exhibited at night.

Work will be commenced opposite No. 9 beacon, and
from each beacon as completed a green light will be shown.

A further notice will be issued when the work is com-
pleted.

This affects Admiralty Charts Nos. 2389 A and B, 1750,
and 1752.

Deceased Seaman Thomas Henley West, Relatives inquired for.

INFORMATION is desired as to the whereabouts of the
relatives of deceased seaman Thomas Henley West,
who is said to have been born in New Zealand, and who was
one of the crew of the Danish ship “Aalborg,” which was
wrecked on the coast of Chile on the 9th July, 1905.

Notice of the Laying-off of Road through Raetihi No. 2b,
Block VII, Makotuku Survey District.

NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, under
the authority of section 93 of “The Public Works Act,
1905,” that the road described in the Schedule hereto was
duly taken and laid off in January, 1905, through the land
specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the
Governor of the said colony, by Warrant dated the
6th December, 1901.

  1. This Exchange shall consist of the undersigned stock and
    share brokers, and of such persons as may be hereafter elected
    in accordance with these rules, and shall be called “The
    Thames Stock Exchange.”

Objects.

  1. The objects and purposes of the Exchange are the ex-
    change of quotations, the facilitating of purchases and sales,
