THE following special order, made by the Cook County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.

SPECIAL ORDER made on the 15th day of September, 1905; confirmed on the 20th day of October, 1905:—

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in them in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Cook County Council do hereby resolve as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £3,000, authorised to be raised by the Cook County Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for constructing a dray-road from the Mangamaia Road to Section 16, Mangatu No. 1, the said Cook County Council do hereby make and levy a special rate of 7d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Mangamaia Loan District No. 2, comprising western portion of Subdivision 10 of Mangatu No. 1, 4,931 acres; Subdivision 19 of Mangatu No. 1; eastern portion of Subdivision 18, Mangatu No. 1, 1,890 acres; Subdivision 16 of Mangatu No. 1: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each and every year during a period equal to the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The rate of interest to be 4 per cent.

The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Cook was hereto affixed in the presence of—

Result of Poll for a Loan of £6,000.

I, THOMAS GILMOUR, Mayor of the Borough of Waihi, hereby give notice, in terms of the provisions of “The Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1901,” and its amendments, and “The Local Bodies’ Goldfields Public Works and Loans Act, 1901,” that the result of a poll of ratepayers, taken in the Miners’ Union Hall, Waihi, on the 24th day of October, 1905, on the proposal to borrow £6,000, of which sum £4,610 12s. 8d. is for extension and completion of waterworks, and £1,389 7s. 4d. for refund to the District Fund of that amount already spent on waterworks scheme, is as follows:—

Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 148; number of votes recorded against proposal, 135; informal, 1.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Shops in the Town District of Amberley under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the Town District of Amberley, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all shops in the town district shall be closed at 6 o’clock p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, at 1 o’clock p.m. on Saturdays (the weekly half-holiday), and at 9 o’clock p.m. on Fridays: And whereas the Amberley Town Board has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the town district:

Now, therefore, I, Albert Pitt, acting for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 21 of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904,” and section 5 of “The Shops and Offices Act Amendment Act, 1905,” do hereby direct that from and after the 12th day of February, 1906, all shops in the Town District of Amberley shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Chemists’ Shops in the City of Auckland and the Borough of Newmarket under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops in the City of Auckland, and a majority of those in the Borough of Newmarket, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city and borough shall be closed at 1 p.m. on the statutory closing-day, except that shops may reopen from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (but only for the supply of medicines and surgical appliances); 10 p.m. on one day, which shall be Friday in the case of those observing Saturday as the half-holiday, and Saturday in the case of those observing Wednesday as the half-holiday; and 8 p.m. on the other four working-days of the week: And whereas the Auckland City Council and the Newmarket Borough Council have each certified that the signatures to such requisition of chemists in their respective districts represent a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops within the city and borough respectively:

Now, therefore, I, Albert Pitt, acting for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 21 of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904,” and section 5 of “The Shops and Offices Act Amendment Act, 1905,” do hereby direct that from and after the 12th day of February, 1906, all chemists’ shops in the City of Auckland and the Borough of Newmarket shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the stationers and fancy-goods dealers’ shops in the Borough of Waihi, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed at 8 o’clock p.m. on week nights, exclusive of the half-holiday and Saturday, and at 10.15 p.m. on Saturdays: And whereas the Waihi Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the stationers and fancy-goods dealers’ shops within the borough:
