thence by a right line to the south-eastern corner of that section; thence by the southern boundary-line of the said Section No. 85 for a distance of 796 links: thence towards the west generally by a right line bearing 354° 11" (magnetic) to the road forming the northern boundary of Section No. 132; thence by that road to the north-eastern corner of the said Section No. 132; thence by a right line to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 130, Bock XIV aforesaid; and thence by the said Section No. 130 to the south-western corner of Section No. 184 aforesaid, the place of commencement: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The above special order was duly passed and adopted at a special meeting of the Council held on the 2nd day of July, 1906, and confirmed at a meeting of the Council held on the 2nd day of August, 1906.

THE following special orders, made by the Kaukatea Road Board, are published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

KAUKATEA ROAD BOARD.

Copies of Special Orders made by the Kaukatea Road Board at a Special Meeting of the Board held on the 9th day of May, 1906, and subsequently confirmed at a Meeting of the Board held on the 13th day of June, 1906.

THAT a special order be now made raising a loan of £250, in terms of subsection (3) of section 14, “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of paying the amount awarded by Governor’s Warrant to be paid to the Mataongaonga Road Board by way of contribution towards the construction of Shakespeare’s Cliff Road.

That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Kaukatea Road Board hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of £250, and authorised to be raised by the Kaukatea Road Board, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of paying the amount awarded by Governor’s Warrant (gazetted pages 1542–3, Gazette, 1904) to be paid by the Kaukatea Road Board to the Mataongaonga Road Board as the proportion of the cost of the Shakespeare’s Cliff Road, the said Kaukatea Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 2½d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property in the Kaukatea Road District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and payable on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

I, Dennis Herlihy, Chairman of the Kaukatea Road Board, do hereby certify that the above are true copies of two special orders adopted by resolution of the Kaukatea Road Board passed at a special meeting of the said Board held on the 9th day of May, 1906, and subsequently confirmed at a meeting of the said Board held on the 13th day of June, 1906.

WAIPUKURAУ TOWN BOARD.

I, THE undersigned, hereby give notice that at the poll, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and “The Local Elections Act, 1904,” and any amendments to either of them, held on Wednesday, the 1st day of August, 1906, on the proposal to raise a special loan of £200, for the purpose of lighting the above town district, the following number of votes, as placed against the two issues, were polled: For the proposal, 59; against the proposal, 19; majority for the proposal, 40.

As the number of votes polled for the proposal exceeds the necessary three-fifths majority, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

Appointing Kaipara a Port at which Customhouse Agents must be licensed.


CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the power in me for this purpose vested by “The Customs Laws Consolidation Act, 1882,” I, the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, do hereby appoint and declare that the Port of

shall be a port at which persons acting as agents in the entrance or clearance of ships’ goods or baggage, or any business relating thereto, shall be required to be duly licensed for that purpose.

Sir,—With reference to the Marquess of Ripon’s circular despatch of the 15th December, 1893, I have the honour to transmit to you, for information and publication in the colony under your Government, a copy of an Order of His Majesty in Council revoking the Orders in Council of the 30th September, 1873, the 14th February, 1883, and the 23rd November, 1893, in regard to the mode of estimating the net registered tonnage of Italian ships, and recognising in His Majesty’s dominions the tonnage of such ships denoted on their certificates of registry or other national papers dated on and after the 10th February, 1906.

THE KING’S MOST EXCELLENT MAJESTY IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section 84, subsection (1), of “The Merchant Shipping Act, 1894,” it is enacted that whenever it appears to His Majesty the King in Council that the tonnage regulations of the said Act have been adopted by any foreign country, and are in force there, His Majesty in Council may order that the ships of that country shall, without being remeasured in His Majesty’s dominions, be deemed to be of the tonnage denoted in their certificates of registry or other national papers, in the same manner, to the same extent, and for the same purposes as the tonnage denoted in the certificate of registry of a British ship is deemed to be the tonnage of that ship:

And whereas it appears to His Majesty that the tonnage regulations of the said Act have been adopted by the Government of His Majesty the King of Italy, and are now in force in that country, having come into operation on the 10th February, 1906 :
