in the Upper Alfred Road Special-rating District, comprising Sections 1 and 2 of Block VI, Egmont Survey District; Sections 21, 22, 23, 24, 119, 120, 137, 138, 139, 146, all those parts of Sections 122 (containing 40 acres) and 135 (containing 40 acres) lying between the Alfred Road and the Kaiauai River, all those parts of Sections 25 (8 acres), 118 (28 acres), 141 (10 acres), 142 (8 acres), 143 (5 acres), 144 (3 acres), 145 (2 acres 2 roods), and 164 (15 acres) lying between the Alfred Road and the Waiwakaiho River, all in Block VII, Egmont Survey District: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable on the 1st day of September in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I certify that the above special order was duly made by the Waiwakaiho Road Board on the 19th day of March, 1906.

THE following special order, made by the Karori Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Special Order making Special Rates.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Council of the Borough of Karori hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £37,000, authorised to be raised by the Karori Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for tramway, road-widening, and acquisition of a recreation-ground, the said Karori Borough Council hereby makes and levies (by special order) a special rate of 1s.1d. in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Karori, the boundaries of which are set forth in the Schedule to this resolution; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of June and the 1st day of December in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being for a period of twenty-five years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
SCHEDULE.
The boundaries of the Borough of Karori are all that area in the Land District of Wellington, situate in Port Nicholson Survey District, bounded towards the north generally by Sections 50 and 58 respectively, Makara, and Native reserve (366 acres) at Otari, to the left bank of Kaiwarra Stream; thence by the Borough of Onslow to the northernmost corner of Tinakori North Native Block; thence towards the east generally by the City of Wellington to the north-western corner of Section 28, Karori; thence by the City of Wellington to the north-eastern corner of Section 70, Terawhiti; thence towards the south-west generally by the said Section 70, and Sections 69, 68, 67, respectively, Terawhiti, to the northernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence towards the north-west generally by Sections 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 44, 42, 43, and 45 respectively, Makara, to the left bank of the eastern branch of the Makara Stream; thence by the said left bank of the eastern branch of the Makara Stream to a point in line with the southern boundary-line of Section 29, Makara; and thence again towards the north by a right line across the said branch and by the said Section 29 to Section 50 aforesaid.
The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Karori was hereto affixed, this 27th day of March, 1906, in the presence of—

Notice fixing Closing-hours of certain Shops in the Borough of Gore under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the Borough of Gore, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all shops in the borough, except those mentioned in the Schedule to “The Shops and Offices Act Amendment Act, 1905,” shall be closed at 6 p.m. on every day in the week, except Wednesday, the statutory half-holiday, when the hour of closing is 1 p.m., and Saturday, when the hour for closing shall be 9 p.m.: And whereas the Borough Council of Gore has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the borough:
Now, therefore, I, James McGowan, acting for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 21 of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904,” and section 5 of “The Shops and Offices Act Amendment Act, 1905,” do hereby direct that from and after the 9th day of April, 1906, all the shops in the Borough of Gore, except those mentioned in the Schedule referred to, shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops in the City of Wellington, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city shall be closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 5.30 p.m., on the statutory half-holiday at 1 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 p.m.: And whereas the Wellington City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops in the city:
Now, therefore, I, Richard John Seddon, the Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 21 of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904,” and section 5 of “The Shops and Offices Act Amendment Act, 1905,” do hereby direct that from and after the 9th day of April, 1906, all butchers’ shops in the City of Wellington shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.
(The statutory half-holiday is on Wednesday.)
