has been made available for the purposes of the district
comprising part of the Stratford County described in the
Schedule hereto, and that the Stratford Borough Council
is the controlling authority of the said abattoir.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District bounded
towards the north generally by the Manganui Stream from
Derby Road to the Stratford-New Plymouth Railway line;
then by the railway reserve to the north-western corner
of Section No. 1, Block XIII, Huiroa Survey District (Edu-
cation Reserve); then by the northern boundaries of
Blocks XIII and XIV, Huiroa Survey District, to the north-
eastern corner of Section No. 55, Block XIV aforesaid;
then towards the east generally by Block XV, Huiroa
Survey District, and Block III, Ngaiere Survey District, to
Skinner Road; then by the said Skinner Road to the
north-eastern corner of Section No. 20, Block VI, Ngaiere
Survey District; then towards the south generally by the
said Section No. 20 to Sole Road; then by the said Sole
Road to Mountain Road; then by Mountain Road to
Climie Road; then by the said Climie Road to Cardiff
Road; then towards the west generally by the said Cardiff
Road to a point in line with the northern boundary-line of
Section No. 38, Block IV, Kaupokonui Survey District;
then by a right line across Cardiff Road to the northern-
most corner of the said Section No. 38; then by the last-
mentioned section to its westernmost corner; then by
Section No. 8, Block IV aforesaid, and Section No. 39,
Block XVI, Egmont Survey District, and the eastern bound-
ary-line of the last-mentioned section produced across Rad-
nor Road to Derby Road; and then by the said Derby
Road to the Manganui Stream, the place of commencement.

NEW RIVER BAR SHOALING.

THE Invercargill Borough Council, which has control of
the New River Harbour, reports that the New River
Bar has been undergoing a change, and is now unsafe for
shipping at low tide, there being only 9 ft. of water at low
water, ordinary springs.

2553. “New Zealand Pilot,” Chap. ix, page 316.

Notice to Mariners No. 26 of 1906.

THE following Notices to Mariners, received from the
Port Officer, Melbourne, Victoria, and the Govern-
ment of Fiji, are published for general information.

WM. HALL-JONES.

VICTORIA. — PORT OF PORT PHILLIP. — SUBMARINE MINING IN
THE VICINITY OF SWAN ISLAND.

It is hereby notified, for general information, that an addi-
tional port regulation is in progress of being issued, pro-
viding that, for the purpose of permitting practice in sub-
marine mining, vessels shall not, on and after the 26th day
of March, 1906, until and including the 30th day of April,
1906, be navigated in the waters to the northward and west-
ward of the No. 3 (Swan-spit) buoy, West Channel, within
the area bounded by a supposed line running south-easterly
from Swan beacon to No. 3 (Swan-spit) buoy; then north-
erly to small black can buoy moored east by north 5 cables
from the north-east end of Swan Island; then westerly to
the outer pile which marks the entrance to the channel
leading to Swan Island Jetty; then due south to Swan
Point; and from then southerly along the shore to the
starting-point.

NAVULA PASSAGE.—FIJI ISLANDS.

Notice is hereby given that a lighthouse has been erected
on the westerly side of the Navula Passage, in latitude
17° 55′ 20″ South, longitude 177° 13′ 10″ East, and that a
light will be installed therein on the 1st June, 1906.

The building consists of a white lantern and living-room
on black piles, and the height of the lantern is 42 ft. above
high-water level.

The light will be a fourth order white dioptric fixed light,
visible all round the horizon for a distance of ten miles in
clear weather from a ship’s deck.

NAKOROKORO POINT.—FIJI ISLANDS.

Notice is hereby given that a lighthouse has been erected
on Nakorokoro Point, in latitude 17° 39′ 10″ South, longitude
177° 23′ 0″ East, and that a light will be installed therein
on the 1st June, 1906.

The building consists of a white lantern and living-room
on black piles, and the height of the lantern is 42 ft. above
high-water level.

The light will be a fourth order white dioptric fixed light,
visible all round the horizon for a distance of ten miles in
clear weather from a ship’s deck.

URUGUAY.

RIO DE LA PLATA APPROACH.—LOBOS ISLAND.—LIGHT-TOWER
UNDER CONSTRUCTION.—BUOY.—The Italian Government has
given notice that the commander of the Italian man-of-war
“Fieramosca” reports that the conical light-tower in course
of construction in the northern part of Lobos Island, Per-
nambuco approach, is nearly completed. It is of a dark
colour, and forms a good landmark.

Approx. position: Lat. 35° 1′ 30″ S., long. 54° 53′ W.

Also that the commander of the Italian man-of-war
“Dogali” reports that a large cylindrical black buoy is
moored on the northern side of the bank extending to the
northward from Lobos Island.

SAN FRANCISCO BAY ENTRANCE.—MILE ROCKS.—BELL BUOY
TO BE DISCONTINUED.—About 1st March, 1906, Mile Rocks
bell buoy, painted in horizontal stripes and moored about
760 ft. S. 76° 30′ W. true (S.W. by W. ¼ W. mag.) from Mile
Rocks, San Francisco Bay entrance, California, will be
permanently discontinued.
