Designs should include the words “ New Zealand.”
Designs to be marked with a motto, and accompanied by
a sealed envelope with motto marked outside containing
name and address of designer.
Designs to be forwarded to “The Colonial Secretary,
Wellington,” in time to reach Wellington not later than
Friday, the 1st day of June, 1906.
All designs to be the property of the Government.
If none of the designs are considered of sufficient merit no
prize will be given.

of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

ELLIOT ROAD BOARD.
By-law.
THAT the following by-law be adopted:—
No person shall drive or lead any horses not in harness
or otherwise controlled by halters or leading-ropes over any
road under the control of the Elliot Road Board between the
hours of 6 o’clock in the morning and 12 o’clock at night:
Provided that horses led and controlled by halters or
leading-ropes shall not be led with more than three abreast.
Every person who shall do or cause or procure to be
done anything contrary to or otherwise than as provided by
this by-law shall be deemed guilty of an offence, and shall be
liable for each such offence to such penalty not exceeding
ten pounds (£10) as the Court inflicting the same shall in its
discretion think fit.
I, Harry Stocker, of New Plymouth, Accountant, Clerk to
the Elliot Road Board, certify that the foregoing is a true
copy of a special order duly passed and made in accord-
ance with the requirements of “The Road Boards Acts
Amendment Act, 1905,” by the Elliot Road Board on the
17th day of March, 1906.

County Council, is published in accordance with the
provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

KIWITEA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order.
PROPOSED by Councillor Meads, seconded by Councillor
Hockly:—
That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in
them in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1901,” the Kiwitea County Council do hereby resolve as fol-
lows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £88, being 10 per centum of original
loan of £883, authorised to be raised by the Kiwitea County
Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans
Act, 1901,” and subsection (c) of section 8 of “The Local
Bodies’ Loans Amendment Act, 1903,” to continue trimming
and metalling of Mangamako Road, commencing two miles
west of Village of Marshall, the said Kiwitea County Council
do hereby make and levy a special rate of ⅓₂d. in the pound
upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the
Marshall Special-rating District, comprising Sections 1,
Block XV, Hautapu S.D.; 71, Block XV, Hautapu S.D.,
and Block III, Apiti S.D.; 73, 75, 77, 8, Block XIV,
Hautapu S.D.; 74, 76, 78, 62, 70, 72, Block II, Apiti S.D.;
1F, 1J, part 1H, Otamakapua Native Reserve; 49, 2, 3, 24,
25, 1, 12, 13, 14, 5, 26, 27, 9, 20, 21, 22, 23, 16, 17, 28, 29, 30,
Village of Marshall: and that such special rate shall be an
annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and
be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st
day of October in each and every year during a period equal
to the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one
years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
The cost of raising the loan and the interest for the first
year shall be paid out of the aforesaid sum of £88.
I, Hilton Fowler, Chairman of the Kiwitea County
Council, do hereby certify that the above is a true copy of
the special order adopted at a special meeting of the said
Council held on the 17th day of February, 1906, and con-
firmed at a special meeting held on the 17th day of March,
1906.
