constructing water-races within the Argyle Water-race District, the said Waipawa County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1½d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Argyle Water-race Special-rating District, comprising 600 acres of Section 25, Block I; 40 acres of Section 23, Block I; 296 acres of Section 22, Block I; 880 acres of Section 24, Block I; 100 acres of Section 21, Block I; 130 acres of Section 18, Block I; 50 acres of Section 3, Block II; 300 acres of Section 4, Block II; 500 acres of Section 2, Block V; 500 acres of Section 1, Block V; and 100 acres of Section 1, Block VI, all of the Waipukurau Survey District: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off. That the rate of interest shall be 4 per centum per annum.

I, Albert Edward Jull, Chairman of the Waipawa County Council, hereby certify that the above is a true copy of the resolution made by the Waipawa County Council on the 22nd day of November, 1905, and confirmed on the 8th day of January, 1906.

WAIPAWA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Copy of a resolution made by the Waipawa County Council on the 4th day of October, 1905, and confirmed on the 22nd day of November, 1905:—

That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Waipawa County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £100, authorised to be raised by the Waipawa County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the completing of the Forest Gate Water-races (such loan being 10 per centum of the original loan of £1,000), the said Waipawa County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/10d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Forest Gate Estate Water-race Special-rating District, comprising Sections 1, 2, 3, Block XI, 2, 3, Block XII, and part 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15, Block VIII, of Ruataniwha Survey District; and that such rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of the loan, and be payable on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off. That the rate of interest shall be 4 per cent. per annum.

BOROUGH OF PETONE.

Result of Poll.

NOTICE is hereby given that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Petone, including all persons entitled to vote on proposals to raise loans, was duly taken at the Odd Fellows’ Hall, Petone, on Wednesday, the 21st day of February, 1906, upon the following proposal:—

A proposal to borrow by way of special loan within the meaning of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, the sum of £3,000, to be expended in the erection and formation of a settling-tank in connection with the Corporation water-supply of the borough (this to include the taking of lands and extinguishing of private rights in connection therewith), also surveys, fencing, &c.

The Council proposes to pledge an annually recurring special rate of 1/16d. in the pound sterling on the unimproved rateable value of all the rateable property within the borough as security for the said loan of £3,000 and interest and other charges thereon.

It is proposed that the whole amount of the loan shall be repayable at the expiration of a term not exceeding forty-one years, to be computed from the date of raising the loan.

And at such poll the number of votes recorded was 180 for the said proposal and 138 against the proposal; informal votes, 14.

I do hereby declare the said proposal to be carried.

Result of Poll.

NOTICE is hereby given that a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Petone, including all persons entitled to a vote on proposals to raise loans, was duly taken at the Odd Fellows’ Hall, Petone, on Wednesday, the 21st day of February, 1906, upon the following proposal:—

A proposal to borrow by way of special loan within the meaning of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, the sum of £9,000, to be expended in the construction of drains and conduit; for the diversion of the waters of Riddler’s, Percy’s, Huggins’s, and Everest’s Creeks, via the Hutt Road and Victoria Street, to the sea; and for all works, equipment, and surveys in connection with the aforesaid creeks diversion scheme; and in and upon reinstating the streets broken up in connection with the drains.

The Council proposes to pledge an annually recurring special rate of 3/7d. in the pound sterling on the unimproved rateable value of all the rateable property within the borough as security for the said loan of £9,000 and the interest and other charges thereon.

It is proposed that the whole amount of the loan shall be repayable at the expiration of a term not exceeding fifteen years, to be computed from the day on which the poll is taken.

And at such poll the number of votes recorded was 146 for the proposal and 170 against the proposal; informal votes, 15.

I do hereby declare the said proposal to be rejected.
