Section 62 is steep and broken, and rises to an altitude of nearly 1,900 ft. More than half the area lies on a steep face, with a good aspect; the remainder has a southerly aspect. Manuka scrub covers from 30 to 40 acres on the ridge-top; silver-birch covers the back-lying portion of the section, and the northern face contains mostly kamai and red-pine. A comparatively large area is covered with moss.
Section 65 has generally a south-easterly aspect. It also is steep, and broken by a number of deep, narrow gullies. The timber is chiefly kamai, with a few black- and red-pine trees. These sections are situated about eleven miles from Owaka Railway-station and about three miles from a school.

This section is rough, and much broken by three gullies running through it from east to west. The soil is of fair quality. About two-thirds of the area has a sunny aspect, the remainder lying towards the south. The southerly faces of the ridges are steep, but the northerly faces have a better slope. The timber consists of kamai, some trees of which are very large, red-pine, broadleaf, &c. A large proportion of the timber is light, and can easily be cleared. Situated about three miles from Owaka and about four miles from a creamery. With the exception of about a mile near the section, the road is a very fair one.
