Rural Lands in Taranaki Land District open for Selection
on Lease in Perpetuity.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-
six of “The Land Act, 1892,” and section two of “The
Bush and Swamp Crown Lands Settlement Act, 1903,” I,
William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby declare and provide as fol-
lows, that is to say:—
- The rural lands described in the Schedule hereto are
hereby set apart for disposal by way of selection on and
after the sixteenth day of April, one thousand nine hun-
dred and six, at the rentals specified in the said Schedule. - The said lands may be selected on lease in perpetuity
only, as provided by section one hundred and twenty-one
of “The Land Act, 1892,” as they contain or are supposed
to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone, and shall not
be purchased for cash. - For the purposes of “The Bush and Swamp Crown
Lands Settlement Act, 1903,” the lands enumerated in the
said Schedule hereto shall be deemed to be “light-bush
land.” - No general rate shall be levied or collected by any local
authority from the said lands for the period of three years
from the date from which in each case respectively such
lands are disposed of, and no local authority shall have
power to levy or collect any such rate from such lands
during such period. - After the first half-year’s rent has been paid by the
selector the further instalments of rent payable by him for
a period of three years shall not be demanded: provided
that if at any time during the first five years of his occu-
pancy the selector disposes of his interest in the land the
rent so conceded shall be paid by him in full, and there-
upon the Land Board may remit such instalments of rent
payable by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggre-
gate the amount of rent previously conceded to the selector,
as the Board shall think fit.

Situate on Kie Kie Road. Access from Paemako, fourteen
miles distant—ten miles by dray-road, remainder by pack-
track. The section comprises low, hilly, and undulating
country; about 18 acres swamp. The forest is light, com-
prising tawa, rata, rimu, hinau, and kahikatea, with a light
undergrowth of supplejack. The soil is good, on a papa-
and-sandstone formation; watered by small streams. Eleva-
tion, from 150 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level.
OHURA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Situate on Waitangata Road, twenty-three miles from
Ongarue by a good dray-road. The section comprises flats
on streams, with terraces and undulating land covered with
light forest of hinau, rata, tawa, and a light undergrowth of
fern and white wood. Soil fair, on papa-and-sandstone for-
mation; well watered. Elevation, from 530 ft. to 1,100 ft.
above sea-level.

this thirteenth day of February, one thousand
nine hundred and six.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth
section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare
that the rural land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the sixteenth
day of April, one thousand nine hundred and six; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at
the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in
perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected
on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as
mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and
subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

stumping, and tracks.
Situate on Maben Road. Access from Patea, distant about sixteen miles—two miles metalled dray-road, ten miles
formed dray-road, remainder formed bridle-road. Generally low hills; about 50 acres level and easy slopes on Patea
River, remainder rough and broken; soil fair, on papa formation. Forest fairly heavy, comprising tawa, rimu, rata, and
black-birch, with thick undergrowth. The section is well watered. Elevation, from 100 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level.
