Rural Lands in Wellington Land District open for Sale or Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-seventh day of February, one thousand nine hundred and seven; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Situated on the Pohangina Valley Road, near the Pohangina River, about fifteen miles from Ashhurst by a formed and metalled dray-road. All flat land, with the exception of a small gorge known as the Mangatukura Stream through Section 7. Good soil, on gravel formation. The milling-timber has been removed from the forest, only tawa, titoki, taraha, mahoe, with felled tops of totara, rimu, &c., and dense undergrowth of supplejack, houhou, &c., remaining. Section 7 is well watered by the Mangatukura Stream, but there is no water on Section 8. The elevation ranges from 750 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level.

Appointment of Trustees, Napier Volunteer Drill-shed Reserve.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by “The Special Powers and Contracts Act, 1886,” “The Volunteer Drill-sheds and Lands Act, 1888,” and “The Volunteer Drill-sheds and Lands Trustees Validation Act, 1890” (hereinafter termed “the said Acts”), His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby constitute and appoint
Brevet-Colonel WILLIAM HOLDEN WEBB, New Zealand Militia, Officer Commanding Wellington Military District;
Major JOHN CHICKEN, V.D., Retired List;
Captain FREDERICK GEORGE SMITH, Active List;
Captain JULIUS SANDTMANN, Adjutant, No. 4 Regiment, Wellington (East Coast) Mounted Rifle Volunteers;
CHARLES DUGALD KENNEDY, Esq., Napier;
ROBERT DONALD DOUGLAS MCLEAN, Esq., Napier;
and
JAMES HENRY COLEMAN, Esq., Napier,
to be Trustees of all that piece or parcel of land in the Borough of Napier, Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, being part of Suburban Section No. 96, and containing twenty-six perches, more or less: commencing at the south-west corner of the Telegraph Reserve: bounded on the south by Coote Road, 114 links; thence to the west by other portion of Suburban Section No. 96, 145½ links; thence on the north, 114 links; thence on the east by the Telegraph Reserve, 145½ links, to commencing-point: And of all that piece or parcel of land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 5·7 perches, more or less, being portion of Suburban Section No. 96, Town of Napier: bounded towards the north-east and south-east by portion of the said Section No. 96, reserved for telegraph purposes, 24·2 and 155·5 links respectively; towards the south-west by Coote Road, 27·6 links; and towards the north-west by portion of the said Section No. 96, reserved for a drill-shed, 145·5 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 54894, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured purple: together with all buildings erected thereon: to hold the said several premises for the purpose of maintaining a drill-shed for Volunteer purposes, and generally for the purposes of and with the powers conferred by the said Acts. And it is hereby declared that the said Trustees shall be incorporated under the name of “The Trustees of the Napier Volunteers Drill-shed Reserve,” and that they shall take office as such Trustees on the fourteenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and six.
