THE following special order, made by the Masterton County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

MASTERTON COUNTY.

Special Order making Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Masterton County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing interest (at the rate of £4 per centum per annum) and other charges on a loan of £2,750, authorised to be raised by the Masterton County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for constructing a bridge and about three miles and a half of formation on the Masterton—East Coast Road, the said Masterton County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅓d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Masterton—East Coast Road Special-rating District, comprised within the following boundaries, that is to say—Commencing at the northernmost corner of Section 93, Block VII., Otahoua Survey District, and proceeding in a south-easterly direction, bounded by Sections 575, 576, 577, 578, 588, 516, 590, Block VII., Otahoua Survey District, to the Wainuioru River: thence by the said river to its intersection with the western boundary of Section 603, Block IX., Rewa Survey District: thence bounded by Section 602 in the last-mentioned block; by Sections 573, 564, 664, and 665, Block V.; by Sections 666, 667, Block VI., to the Boundary Trigonometrical Station: thence proceeding in a south-easterly direction by the forest reserve in Block X.; by Section 1, Block XI.; Section 887 and by part of the north-eastern boundary of Section 893, Block XIV.: thence by lines so as to exclude from the area a triangular piece of land containing 17 acres 3 roods 31 perches, parts of Sections 886 and 885, to the Rewa Trigonometrical Station: thence by Sections 892, 896, and 3, Block XIV.; Section 1, Block XIII., all in the Rewa Survey District; by Subdivisions 6 and 7, Te Maipi N.R.; by Section 1, Block I., Kaiwhata Survey District; by Small Grazing-runs 49 and 48, in Blocks I., Kaiwhata, and IV. and VIII., Wainuioru; and by Section 7 in the last-mentioned block to the Kuamahanga Stream: thence proceeding in a north-westerly direction by the said stream and by the Wairarapa South County to the Taueru River: thence by the said river to the point of commencement: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

Passed at a special meeting of the Council, this 14th day of September, 1905. Confirmed this 12th day of October, 1905.

FEATHERSTON COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Featherston County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,000, authorised to be raised by the Featherston County Council, under the provisions of subsection (4) of section 14 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for metalling that portion of the Pahaoa Road, known as the Pahaoa Hill, within the Pahaoa Riding, the said Featherston County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅓d. in the pound sterling upon the valuation of all rateable property of the Pahaoa Hill Special-rating District, comprising Sections 208, 209, 210, 211, parts 195, 196, 197, 202, 204, 205, 206, 207, and Ngaipu I., Blocks 1, 2, 5, and 6, Mount Adams Survey District, 7,708 acres 1 rood; Sections 107, 108, parts 99, 100, 101, 106, 109, 110, 111, Blocks 5 and 8, Mount Adams and Waipawa Survey Districts, 3,982 acres; Sections 200, 201, parts 191, 192, 193, 194, 196, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, Blocks 1, 2, 6, 13, 14, Mount Adams and Wainuioru Survey Districts, 7,185 acres 1 rood 15 perches; Sections 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 6A, 7A, 1B, 3B, 4B, 6B, 7B, 2C, 3C, 5, 9, part 10, Takapau Block, Waipawa and Wainuioru Survey Districts, 7,598 acres 2 roods; Sections 262, 263, 264, 265, 295, part Tahuroa A, B, C, D, E, 1A, 1B, 1C, 2C, 1E, 3D, part 2A, Ngawakaakupe, Blocks 9, 12, 13, 14, Huangarua and Wainuioru Survey Districts, 10,472 acres 3 roods 35 perches: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable on the 1st day of July in each and every year during a period equal to the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off; the rate of interest to be at the rate of 5 per cent. per annum.

Also that a special meeting of the Council be held in the Council Chambers on Friday, the 13th day of October, 1905, to confirm such resolution.

MASTERTON COUNTY.

RESULTS of polls taken on the 4th October, 1905, upon proposals to raise loans of £3,000 for Lansdowne high-pressure water-supply and £2,500 for Opaki water-supply:—

Lansdowne High-pressure Water-supply.

Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 53; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 18.

As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I declare the said proposal to be carried.

Opaki Water-supply.

Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 20; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 19.

As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of this proposal is less than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I declare the said proposal to be rejected.
