Result of Poll.

I HEREBY give notice that the number of votes recorded upon the taking of the poll on the 20th instant, for and against the proposal of the City of Wellington to borrow (by way of special loan within the meaning of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments) the sum of £22,000 for the completion of the construction of the extension of the electric tramways to and in the Kilbirnie and Ohio Districts, an extension of the proposed Kilbirnie route along the Seatoun Road to Lyell’s Bay Road, and an extension of the existing Oriental Bay line from the present terminus for a distance of about 8 chains to the Kerosene-sheds, was as follows:—

For the proposal, 424; against the proposal, 58.

I hereby declare the proposal carried.

WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.

Result of a Poll for Proposed Loan.

RESULT of a poll taken at the Council Chambers, Hamilton East, on Wednesday, the 13th September, 1905, upon a proposal to raise a special loan of £1,500, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the construction of a suspension bridge to connect Claudelands with Hamilton West, a copy of the notice in respect of which is next hereinafter set out, and that on the taking of the said poll there were 56 votes recorded in favour of the proposal, and 28 votes recorded against the proposal.

As the valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal is at least three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I therefore declare the proposal carried.

NOTICE OF PROPOSED LOAN.

For the purpose of providing the necessary funds for the erection of a suspension bridge across the Waikato River, connecting Claudelands and the adjoining neighbourhood with Hamilton West, the Waikato County Council proposes to borrow the sum of £1,500, at a rate of interest not exceeding £5 per centum per annum, upon the security of a special rate of ½d. in the pound on the capital value of all rateable property in that portion of the Waikato County comprising all that part of the Parish of Kirikiriroa bounded commencing at the Waikato River; towards the north-west by a road along the northern boundaries of Allotments Nos. 177, 179, 180; towards the south-west by the south-western boundary of Allotment No. 186; again towards the north-west by Allotment No. 184; towards the north-east by the Tramway Road from the eastern corner of Allotment No. 184 to the point where the said Tramway Road crosses the railway; towards the south by the railway to the point where the railway crosses the western boundary of Allotment No. 304; towards the east by Allotments Nos. 304 and 223A; towards the south by the Hamilton Town Belt; and towards the south-west by the Waikato River to the commencing-point: and to make provision for the payment of a sinking fund of at least £50 per annum upon the amount of the said loan if raised, and to pay out of such loan such charges and expenses as the Council may determine to have been incurred in connection with such loan.

PROPOSAL to raise a loan of £2,750, upon which a poll was taken on the 18th day of September, 1905:—

The result of the poll of the ratepayers of the South-western District of the Remuera Road District taken on the 18th day of September instant, on the proposal to raise the sum of £2,750 for the draining of the said South-western District, having been ascertained, I hereby give notice that the number of votes recorded for and against the proposal was as follows:—

For the proposal, 24 votes; against the proposal, 2 votes.

And I hereby declare that the resolution in favour of such proposal was carried.

The Council of the Borough of Waimate proposes to borrow (by way of special loan within the meaning of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901”) the sum of £10,000, to be expended in providing a supply of pure water for the use of the inhabitants of the Borough of Waimate, including the construction, establishment, and acquiring of “waterworks,” within the meaning of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900.”
