WAIMARINO COUNTY COUNCIL.
Waipuna Ridge Road Loan.—Special Order making Special
Rate.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by “The Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1901,” the Waimarino County Council hereby resolves as follows: That,
for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges
on a loan of £700, authorised to be raised by the Waimarino
County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the
purpose of formation, culverts, and widening present formation and metalling on the Waipuna Ridge Road, the said
Waimarino County Council hereby makes and levies a
special rate of 2½d. in the pound upon the unimproved rateable property of the Waipuna Ridge Road Special-rating
District as follows—Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12,
14, Block IX., Makotuku Survey District; and that such
special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the
currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the
4th day of April and the 4th day of October in each and
every year during the currency of such loan, being a period
of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
Interest, 4 per cent. per annum.

TE HORO ROAD DISTRICT.
Result of a Poll for Proposed Loan, Te Horo Road District,
County of Horowhenua, Te Horo Road Board.
Result of a poll taken at the Te Horo Railway-station and
Waikanae Poll-booths, on Thursday, the 31st August, 1905,
upon a proposal to raise a loan of £350, under “The Local
Bodies’ Loans Amendment Act, 1903,” for the construction
of the Waihoanga Bridge, situate within the Special District No. 5:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 144; number of
votes on special roll, 248; number of votes recorded in
favour of proposal, 88; number of votes recorded against
proposal, 10; number of informal votes, 3.
As the valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal is at
least three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded
at the poll, I therefore declare the proposal carried.

TELEPHONE-STATION AT WAKATAHURI, FORSYTH BAY.

NOTICE is hereby given that a telephone-station has
been established at Wakatahuri, in Forsyth Bay,
Pelorus Sound. Masters of vessels sheltering during bad
weather in Guards Bay will be able to take advantage of
this.

TRINCOMALI CHANNEL.—ATKINS REEF.—CHANGE IN COLOUR
OF BEACON.—Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 34 (817)
of 1899, the Canadian Government has given further notice
that Atkins Reef beacon, including the staff and ball, will
be changed in colour from black to white without further
notice.
Approx. position: Lat. 48° 53′ N., long. 123° 28′ W.

under construction by the Government of Canada on Graeme
Point, Malcolm Island, Broughton Strait, and the light will
be shortly established.
Further particulars will be given when the lighthouse is
completed.

EAST COAST.—PORT SHELTER.—ROCKS IN APPROACH.—Information, dated 27th May, 1905, has been received from
Commander R. W. Glennie, H.B.M. surveying-vessel
“Waterwitch,” of the existence of the following rocks in
the approach to Port Shelter:—
A rock, with a depth of 1½ fathoms over it at low water
springs, situated in a position from which Steep Island
Summit bears N. 85° E. true (E. ⅓ N. n’ly mag.), distant 600
yards, and the southern summit of Yi Bluff S. 23° W. true
(S.S.W. w’ly mag.).
A rock, with a depth of 6 fathoms over it at low water
springs, situated in a position from which Steep Island
Summit bears S. 38° E. true (S.E. ⅕ S. mag.), distant 1,200
yards, and the eastern extremity of Po Toi o Point S. 34° W.
true (S.W. by S. mag.).
A rock, with a depth of 4½ fathoms over it at low water
springs, situated in a position from which North Rock bears
S. 10° E. true (S. ⅓ E. mag.), distant 200 yards, and Steep
Island Summit S. 85° W. true (W. ⅓ S. s’ly mag.).
