HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve, under clause 6, (1), of “The Defence Act, 1886,” of the designation of the “Kawakawa Mounted Rifle Volunteers” being changed to that of the “Bay of Islands Mounted Rifle Volunteers,” with headquarters at Ohaeawai, and with effect from 31st July, 1905.

THE following special order, made by the Manawatu County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Manawatu County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £400, authorised to be raised by the Manawatu County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of providing half-cost of construction of Milner’s Line, and cost of construction of Taikorea, Kellow’s, and a portion of Pyke’s Roads, in the Kawakawa Riding, such loan to be at 4 per centum per annum for forty-one years, and such loan being 10 per centum additional on the loan of £4,000 raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and amendments, the said Manawatu County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/10d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all the rateable property of the Kawakawa Special-rating District, comprising Sections 60, 66 to 74 inclusive, 142, and 365, Block XI., Te Kawai Survey District; Sections 139, 140, 141, 143, 146, Block VI., Te Kawai Survey District; Sections 147 to 151 inclusive, 154, 155, 157, 366, 367, 368, Block X., Te Kawai Survey District; Sections 94, 96 to 100 inclusive, 114, 115, of subdivision Section 384, Blocks XI., XV., XVI., Te Kawai Survey District; Section 95 of subdivision Sections 318, 384, Blocks XI., XV., Te Kawai Survey District; Sections 120, 121, of subdivision Sections 317, 318, Block XI., Te Kawai Survey District; Section 123 of subdivision Section 317, Block XI., Te Kawai Survey District; and the northern portions (750 acres) of Sections 313, 314, Block X., Te Kawai Survey District (500 acres in the occupation of William Taylor, and 250 acres in the occupation of J. H. Gibbs, formerly J. R. McLennan); excepting from the above area that portion (2 acres) of Section 73 in the occupation of the Wanganui Education Board for the purposes of a public school: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly in one sum at the county offices, Sanson, on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
