Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of New Plymouth, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BOROUGH OF NEW PLYMOUTH.

“The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”—Proposed Special Loan of £7,000.

I, RICHARD COCK, Mayor of the Borough of New Plymouth, in the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and of all other powers thereunto enabling me, do hereby give notice that on the 2nd day of August, 1905, a poll of the said borough was duly taken, under the provisions of the said Act, on a proposal of the Council of the said borough to borrow a sum of £7,000 by way of special loan, a copy of the notice in respect of which is next hereinafter set out, and that on the taking of the said poll 206 electors voted for the said proposal, and 103 voted against it, and 7 votes were informal, and that accordingly the said proposal and the resolution in favour thereof have been duly carried.

NOTICE OF PROPOSED LOAN.

The Council of the Borough of New Plymouth hereby gives public notice that it proposes to borrow by way of special loan the sum of £7,000, at a rate of interest not exceeding £5 per centum per annum, with a sinking fund of ½ per cent. additional, the loan to be repayable on a period ending the 1st day of October, 1922, and to be for the following purposes: £7,000 to pay liabilities already incurred and to complete the additions and extensions to the waterworks, to pay liabilities already incurred and to complete the work of lighting the streets and public places of the borough with electricity, and the supplying of electricity, and to carry out any other works incidental to or in relation to any of the above purposes. The Council proposes to pledge as security for the loan of £7,000 and the interest thereon a special rate of 2d. in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the annual value) of all rateable property within the borough, and its revenues, rents, tolls, issues, and profits, with the exception of all lands taken, acquired, or used for a public abattoir, and all buildings, erections, structures, and appurtenances now or hereafter thereto belonging, and the revenues, rents, tolls, and profits therefrom, and also excepting moneys received or receivable by way of grant from the Government. The Council proposes that the first year’s interest, all preliminary expenses incurred in connection with the scheme for which the loan is raised, and the cost of raising the loan be paid out of the proceeds of such loan.

NOTICE OF MEETING.

I hereby convene a meeting of the electors of the Borough of New Plymouth, to be held in the Council Chambers, King Street, on Friday, the 14th day of July, 1905, at 7.30 o’clock p.m., to consider the proposal described in the above notice.

DECLARATION OF MAYOR.

I, Richard Cock, of the Town of New Plymouth, Mayor of the Borough of New Plymouth, do solemnly and sincerely declare as follows: (1.) That all proceedings required by law to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the electors to the proposal described in the copy-notice above set forth have been duly taken. (2.) That a resolution in favour of the said proposal has been duly carried at a poll of the electors of the Borough of New Plymouth duly taken on the 2nd day of August, 1905, pursuant to “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.” And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

Alterations to the Scale of Fares, Rates, and Charges in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.

IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under “The Government Railways Act, 1900,” I, Joseph George Ward, Minister for Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of fares, rates, and charges in force on the New Zealand Government railways open for traffic, such alterations to come into force on and after the 9th day of August, 1905:—

PART I.—PASSENGERS.

REGULATION 38.

Insert—
Tourist excursion tickets, (a) and (b) series, will be obtainable also at Te Aro and Palmerston North.
Tourist excursion tickets, (a) and (c) series, will be obtainable also at Nelson and Greymouth.

LOCAL FARES AND REGULATIONS.

PARCEL RATES.

Insert—
Bicycles, motor, with trailers attached, will be charged double the rates for motor bicycles.

GOODS: REGULATIONS.

(8.) CLASS N.

Cancel—
Minimum quantity, 4 tons, except for offal and imported cement, for which it will be 2 tons. Any less quantity will, except otherwise specified, be charged at such minimum, or at the classified rate Class E (rate and a half). Waste paper, rags in bales or bundles, sacking, cotton-waste, and other fibrous materials for paper-making consigned to paper-mills, will be charged as such minimum or at half-rate Class C. Imported cement in quantities less than 2 tons will be charged as 2 tons, or at classified rates for Class D.

Insert—
