AUCKLAND SECTION.

Insert—

Timber other than white-pine from Putararu to Mount Eden, Auckland, Onehunga Wharf, and intermediate stations will be charged 3s. per 100 superficial feet.

Timber other than white-pine from Putararu to Thames, Komata, and intermediate stations will be charged 2s. 6d. per 100 superficial feet.

Goods of Classes A, B, C, D, carried from or to Westfield, to or from Te Aroha, Thames, and intermediate stations, will be charged 25s. per ton.

GISBORNE SECTION.

Class K.—Timber.

Insert—

White-pine timber from Te Karaka to Gisborne will be charged 1s. per 100 superficial feet.

PART VI.—WHARVES.

HELENSVILLE WHARF.

Insert—

In charging wharfage, two calves, one year old and under, will be treated as one head of cattle.

Notice to Mariners No. 60 of 1905.

ROCK OFF LONG ISLAND, QUEEN CHARLOTTE SOUND.

NOTICE is hereby given that a pinnacle rock awash at L.W.S. exists 1½ cables N. 34° E. of the rock now shown on chart 1¾ cables N.N.E. of islet off N.E. end of Long Island, Queen Charlotte Sound. The following are the magnetic bearings from the rock: N. end of islet, S. 26° W., 3 cables; N. end of The Twins, S. 62° E. The charted rock lies 1¾ cables N. 22° E. from the North Islet. In the passage between this rock and islet there are two other rocks with 3 ft. of water on them at L.W.S. Close to the islet is a clear passage with 7 fathoms of water.

Notice to Mariners No. 61 of 1905.

ALTERATION IN POSITION OF BUOY ON MIDDLE BANK, FRENCH PASS.

WITH reference to Notice to Mariners No. 56, issued by this Department on the 25th ultimo, notice is hereby given that the buoy which formerly marked the N.E. edge of Middle Bank, French Pass, has been shifted to the S.E. side of the bank, and is now moored in 14 ft. L.W.S. The following bearings from the buoy mark its position: Perch Beacon, N. 28° E. (magnetic); Rock Cod Point, N. 64° E. (magnetic); Fresh-water Creek, N. 58° W. (magnetic). The buoy is cone-shaped, and painted red.

Further Notice fixing Closing-hours of Shops in the Borough of Feilding.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops in the Borough of Feilding (not being one of the districts mentioned in section 3 of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904”), has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed at 8 o’clock p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, at 9 o’clock p.m. on Saturdays, and at 1 o’clock p.m. on Wednesdays (the weekly half-holiday), excepting on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve: And whereas the Feilding Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops within the borough:

Now, therefore, I, James Carroll, acting for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 21 of the said Act, do hereby direct that from and after the 14th day of August, 1905, all chemists’ shops in the Borough of Feilding shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

NOTICE is hereby given that any pupil-teacher, or any student of a technical school, or any other person, may be examined in drawing only either at the Civil Service Junior Examination or at the Teachers’ Certificate Examination. Candidates may offer for examination any one or more of the six branches of drawing prescribed for the Civil Service Junior Examination or for the Teachers’ Certificate Examination. The fee for examination is 2s. 6d. for each branch of drawing so offered. Passing in any branch of drawing will exempt the candidate from further examination in the same branch for a teacher’s certificate. Application to be examined must be made on the form provided, must be accompanied by a bank receipt for the amount of the fee, and must reach the office of the Inspector-General of Schools, at Wellington, not later than the
