Special Order made by the Council of the Borough of Carterton.

THE following special order, made by the Carterton Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BOROUGH OF CARTERTON.
Loan of £750.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Carterton Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £750, authorised to be raised by the Carterton Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of constructing open water-races to supply lands within the said borough, the said Carterton Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of Carterton; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

I hereby certify that the foregoing special order was adopted at a special meeting of the Carterton Borough Council held on the 2nd day of December, 1904, and confirmed at a subsequent special meeting of the said Council held on the 31st day of December, 1904.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Blenheim, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BOROUGH OF BLENHEIM.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” “The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876,” and amendments of the said respective Acts.

NOTICE is hereby given that at the poll held on Wednesday, the 3rd day of February, 1904, upon the proposal to raise a special loan of £3,500 for placing drains in certain portions of Collie’s Hollow and Lock-up Creek, filling in same, and doing all acts necessary thereto, the following votes were recorded:—

For the proposal .. .. .. 191
Against the proposal .. .. .. 154
Informal .. .. .. 4

I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

Result of Poll.

IN pursuance and exercise of the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” notice is hereby given that a poll was taken on the 23rd December, 1904, on the proposal to raise £1,350 for the purpose of forming, draining, and metal-ling Raetihi Township, when the following votes were recorded:—

Against the proposal .. .. .. 0

I therefore declare the proposal carried.

Regulation as to the Introduction of Sheep into the State of Tasmania.—Notice No. 931.

Wellington, 19th January, 1905.

THE following regulation of the State of Tasmania, dated 23rd December, 1904, as to the introduction of sheep into that State, is published for general information:—

“All sheep imported into the State of Tasmania from the States of Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, and the Colony of New Zealand shall be dipped in a tick- and lice-destroying preparation prior to their being shipped on any vessel for transit to Tasmania; and such sheep shall be accompanied by a certificate from the Inspector of Sheep at the port of shipment that such sheep have been duly dipped under his supervision, and are free from ticks and lice.

“Any person offending against this regulation shall incur a penalty not exceeding five pounds.”

Altering Regulations for Examination of Engineers.

Marine Department,
Wellington, 21st January, 1905.

WHEREAS by Warrant dated the 4th day of June, 1902, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 43, of the 5th day of the same month, regulations for the conduct of the examination of engineers were made, and were amended and altered by Warrant dated the 3rd day of August, 1903, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 62, of the 6th day of the same month, and by Warrant dated the 8th day of September, 1904, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 75, of the same date:

And whereas it is desirable to revoke paragraph (a) of regulation numbered 30, and to make another regulation in lieu thereof:

Now, therefore, I, the Minister having charge of the Marine Department, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by section 24 of “The Shipping and Seamen’s Act, 1877,” do hereby revoke paragraph (a) of regulation numbered 30, which was made by the before-mentioned Warrant of the 8th day of September, 1904, and in lieu thereof do hereby make the regulation set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

30 (a). He must have served one year at sea as engineer on regular watch on the main engines or boilers of a foreign-going or intercolonial steamship of not less than 66 nominal horse-power, or eighteen months in a home-trade steamship of not less than 66 nominal horse-power, whilst possessed of or entitled to a third-class engineer’s certificate or a Minister’s certificate of exemption from the third-class examination.


New Zealand Government Railways.—By-law to prevent the Obtaining of Concessions or Reductions in Charges by Means of False Declarations, Statements, or Certificates.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by “The Government Railways Act, 1900,” I, Joseph George Ward, Minister for Railways, do hereby cancel the by-law dated the 18th day of February, 1898, and gazetted on the 24th day of February, 1898, relating to false declarations, statements, or certificates, and in lieu thereof do hereby make the following by-law, which shall come into operation from the date of publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette:—

BY-LAW.

If any person wilfully makes any false declaration or written statement or gives any false certificate with the object of obtaining a concession of freight or a reduction of passenger-fare in connection with traffic on any railway, whether such concession or reduction is thereby obtained or not, such person shall be liable on conviction to a penalty not exceeding £10.
