The above resolution was passed at a special meeting of the Eltham Borough Council held on the 22nd day of March, 1905, and confirmed at a special meeting of the said Council on the 28th day of April, 1905.

THE following special order, made by the Rangitikei County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Counties Act, 1886.”

RANGITIKEI COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order.

In the matter of “The Counties Act, 1886”; and in the matter of a resolution to alter the names and boundaries of the ridings in the County of Rangitikei, for the purpose of adjustment of representation in the Rangitikei County Council.

At a special meeting of the Rangitikei County Council, held at the Council Chambers, Marton, on Saturday, the 4th day of March, 1905, to consider if the representation of the ridings of the Rangitikei County required readjustment, the following resolution was adopted: “That, in order to make the representation of the separate ridings as far as possible proportionate to the rateable value and number of ratepayers of each riding, the alterations of the ridings within the county, and the boundaries thereof, as set forth in the Schedule hereinafter written, and as shown on a map deposited in the office of the Rangitikei County Council, should be made, and that each of the said newly defined ridings should elect one Councillor only; and a special order embodying the foregoing resolution should be made, and should come into full force on the second Wednesday in the month of November now next, but that such order should come into force on the making thereof in so far and to such an extent as should be necessary for preparing any roll or otherwise providing for the election of Councillors.”

SCHEDULE.

(1.) Rangitoto Riding.—Commencing at the north-west corner of Run No. 19, Block V., Koitiate Survey District, on the ocean; thence by the north-western boundaries of said run and Section CLXX. to the north-east corner of said section; thence by the north-east boundary of said section and the south-west boundary of Section CLXVIII. to its south-west corner; thence by the south-eastern boundary of said section to its north-east corner, and thence by its north-east boundary to the south-west corner of Section CXIV.; thence by the south boundaries of Sections CXIV. and XCIX., and south boundary of Section 58, to the south-west corner of Section 37; thence by the west boundary of said Section 37 to the North-western Trunk Road; thence in an easterly direction by the said road to the Williamson Road; thence in a northerly direction by the Williamson Road to the Makirikiri Road; thence in an easterly direction by the Makirikiri and Crofton Cross Roads to the Cliff Road; thence in a southerly direction by the Cliff Road to the north-west corner of Section V.A, Block VII., Rangitoto Survey District; thence by the northern boundary of said section to the county boundary on the Rangitikei River; thence by the county boundary to the ocean; thence by the ocean to the point of commencement.

Otakapu Riding.—Commencing at a point on the Wangaehu River opposite the north-east boundary of Ruatangata No. 2 Block; thence by the said north-east boundary to the Turakina River; thence in a south-easterly direction by the said Turakina River to its confluence with the Nihotea Stream; thence in an easterly direction by the said stream to the west boundary of Section 73, Block IX., Wangaehu Survey District; thence by said west boundary to the north-west corner of said Section 73; thence by its northern boundary to the west boundary of Section 78; thence in a northerly direction by the west boundary of Section 78 to its north-west corner; thence in an easterly direction by north boundary of said section and Section 69 to its north-east corner; thence in a southerly direction by the east boundaries of said section and Sections 68, 66, and 54 to the north-west corner of Section 23, Block I., Rangitoto Survey District; thence in an easterly direction by the north boundary of said section and Section 24 to the Williamson Road; thence in a southerly direction by the said road to the boundary of the Rangitoto Riding; thence by the west boundary of the said riding to the ocean; thence by the ocean to the Wangaehu River; thence by the said river to the point of commencement.

Wangaehu Riding.—Commencing at the north boundary of the Otakapu Riding on the Wangaehu River; thence in a northerly direction by the said river and the county boundary to the north-east corner of forest reserve, Section 6, Block XII., Mangawhero Survey District; thence by east boundary of said reserve to Ohaumoko Block; thence by the north-east boundary of said block to the Turakina River; thence in a southerly direction by said Turakina River to the west boundary of Section 96, Paraekaretu Block; thence by said west boundary and south boundary of said Section 96 to the north-east corner of Section 98; thence by east boundary of said section to the Lochaber Road; thence by said road to west boundary of Section 63; thence by west boundaries of Sections 63 and 62 to the Maungahoe Road; thence by said road to the east boundary of Section 60; thence by said east boundary and the east boundary of Section 58 to the Mount Curl Road; thence by said road to the north boundary of the Porewa Riding; thence by said north boundary to the east boundary of the Otakapu Riding; and thence by north boundary of last-named riding to the point of commencement.

(5.) Rangatira Riding.—Commencing at the north-west corner of Section 56, Block I., Ongo Survey District; thence in an easterly direction by the Maungahoe Road to the Ongo Road; thence by the Ongo Road to the western boundary of Hunterville Township; thence by the west and south boundaries of the said township and the north boundary of Section 31, Block VI., Ongo Survey District, to the south-west corner of Section 28; thence by the west boundary of said Section 28 to the Rangatira Road; thence in an easterly direction by the said road to the southern extremity of Section 23; thence in a north-easterly direction by the south-east boundary of Section 23 to the north-west corner of No. 3 Rangatira Block; thence by the north-east boundary of No. 3 Rangatira Block to the Rangitikei River; thence by the Rangitikei River in a southerly direction to the boundary of the Porewa Riding; thence by the east boundaries of the Porewa and Wangaehu Ridings to the point of commencement.

Otairi Riding.—Commencing at the north-east corner of forest reserve, Section 6, Block XII., Mangawhero Survey District, on the county boundary; thence in a northerly direction by the said county boundary to the south boundary of Section 10, Block VIII., Mangawhero; thence by the southern boundaries of Sections 10 and 7 and the north boundary of township reserve to the Turakina River; thence by the Turakina River southerly to the Mangapapa Stream; thence by the Mangapapa Stream to the west boundary of Run No. 33; thence by the west and south boundaries of Run No. 33 to the south-west boundary of Section 5, Block XI., Tiriraukawa Survey District; thence by the south-west boundary of Section 5 to the Murimotu Road;
