(7.) Te Kapua Riding.—Commencing from Maungakaretu Trigonometrical Station on the north county boundary; thence by the said boundary in an easterly direction to the Hautapu River; thence in a southerly direction by the Hautapu River to a point being the production eastwards of the north-west boundary of 4c No. 13, Awarua Native Block; thence by the said production and the north-west boundary to the Mataroa Road; thence by the Mataroa Road to the Makohine Valley Road; thence by the Makohine Valley Road to the Makohine-Mangaweka Road; thence by the Makohine-Mangaweka Road and a road along the east boundaries of Sections 29 and 30, Block VIII., Tiriraukawa Survey District, to the north-west corner of Section 7, Block IX., Hautapu Survey District; thence along the north-west boundary of said Section 7 to the boundary of the Otairi Riding; thence by the northern boundary of Otairi Riding to the western county boundary; thence by the said west boundary to the point of commencement.

(8.) Awarua Riding.—Commencing at the point of intersection of the Hautapu River with north county boundary; thence by the said north boundary to Trigonometrical Station No. 32 (Papakai); thence towards the north-west by right line being boundary of Wanganui County to its intersection with a road at the north boundary of Section 5, Block XI., Ohinewairua Survey District; thence by said road to the west boundary of Awarua 3A No. 2E Block; thence by the west and north boundaries of said block to the Moawhango River; thence by the Moawhango River to north boundary of Section 13, Block XVI., Ohinewairua Survey District; thence by north boundaries of said Section 13 and Sections 12, 11, 10, and 8 of Block XVI., and 23, 24, 25, and 26, Block XIII., Pukeokahu, and the south-west boundary of Section 53, Block XIV., Pukeokahu Survey District, to the Rangitikei River; thence in a northerly direction by the said Rangitikei River to its intersection with a right line drawn from Trigonometrical Station No. 30 on Aorangi to Trigonometrical Station No. 32 hereinbefore described; thence towards the east and towards the south generally, and again towards the east, by the county boundary to the north-east boundary of the Otairi Riding; thence by the east boundary of said riding and east boundary of the Te Kapua Riding to the point of commencement.

(9.) Erewhon Riding.—Commencing at the southern boundary of Section 53, Block XIV., Pukeokahu Survey District, on the Rangitikei River; thence in an easterly direction by the north boundary of the Awarua Riding to the Rangitikei County boundary-line; thence northerly by the said county boundary-line; thence towards the north by the East Taupo County, and the west generally by the Waimarino and Wanganui County boundaries and the north boundary of the Awarua Riding to the point of commencement.

I, John Willoughby Marshall, Chairman of the Rangitikei County Council, do hereby certify that the above special order was duly made and passed at a special meeting of the Rangitikei County Council held on the 4th day of March, 1905, and was duly confirmed at a special meeting of the said Rangitikei County Council held on the 8th day of April, 1905.

THE following special order, made by the Amuri County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Counties Act, 1886.”

AMURI COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order dividing the Waiau Riding into Two Ridings.

THAT a special order be made, subdividing the Waiau Riding into two ridings, by a line commencing at the junction of the Waiau and Mason Rivers and following the Mason River to its junction with the Lottery River; from thence following the Lottery River to the western corner of Section 3, Lottery Bush; thence following the north-western boundaries of Sections 3, 2, 1, and 85, Lottery Bush, and western boundaries of Sections 5 and 1, Annan Settlement, to the northern point of Section 1, Annan Settlement; from thence in a line in a north-westerly direction to its junction with the Hoosack Run; thence following the south-east boundary of the Hoosack Run to the junction of the Lottery River with the Little Lottery; thence following the boundary between the Hoosack Run and the Lyndon Run to the Hanmer River; thence following the east bank of the Hanmer River to the boundary of the Hanmer Riding at the Leslie Pass. That portion of the Waiau Riding known as the Hoosack Run to become part of the Hanmer Riding. That part of the Waiau Riding on the west of the above line to be known as the Lyndon Riding, and to be represented on the Amuri County Council by one Councillor. That part to the east of the said line to be known as the Waiau Riding, and to be represented on the Amuri County Council by two Councillors. This special order shall come into force on the 30th day of September, 1905.

The foregoing special order was duly passed at a special meeting of the Amuri County Council held on the 4th day of March, 1905, and confirmed at a subsequent special meeting of the said Council on the 8th day of April, 1905.

WAIRAU ROAD BOARD.

By-laws regulating Heavy Traffic.

Special Order of the Wairau Road Board, on the 7th Day of April, 1905.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by “The Counties Act, 1886,” “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and the several Acts amending the same respectively, and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, the Wairau Road Board doth hereby, in respect of all roads, bridges, ferries, and fords under the care, control, or management of the said Wairau Road Board, make the following by-laws, which shall come into force upon their being gazetted:—

  1. In the construction of these by-laws the words “heavy traffic” shall mean “heavy traffic” as defined by section 130 of “The Public Works Act, 1894”; the words “the said Board” shall mean the Wairau Road Board; the words “the said roads” shall mean and include all the roads under the care, control, or management of the Wairau Road Board; the words “the said bridges” shall mean and include all the bridges under the care, control, or management of the Wairau Road Board; the words “the said roads, bridges, ferries, and fords” shall mean and include all the roads, bridges, ferries, and fords under the care, control, or management of the Wairau Road Board; the words “the said district” shall mean and include the whole of the district within the jurisdiction of the Wairau Road Board; the word “engine” shall mean any locomotive engine propelled by steam, electricity, petrol, or other power, and designed for use on roads; the word “owner” shall include every person having the use of or any interest (whether permanent or temporary) in any engine.

  2. No person shall engage (whether as owner, driver, or otherwise howsoever) in heavy traffic upon or over any road, bridge, ferry, or ford in the said district other than and except in strict conformity with the provisions of these by-laws.

  3. Every engine and every vehicle used or engaged in heavy traffic in the said district shall be licensed by the said Board, and no engine or vehicle (other than as aforesaid) shall be so used or engaged except and until the same shall have been duly licensed.

  4. Prior to the using or engaging of any engine or vehicle in heavy traffic in the said district, the owner of such engine or vehicle shall—

(a.) Make to the Secretary of the said Board an application in writing for the issue of a license in respect of such engine or vehicle, which application shall be in or to the effect of the form
