thereof held on the 6th day of February, 1905, and confirmed at a special meeting of the said Council held on the 10th day of March, 1905, and to take effect from and after the 1st day of April, 1905, and sealed with the common seal of the Whangarei Borough Council:—

In pursuance of the powers vested in the said Council by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and its amendments, and all other powers it thereto enabling, the Council of the Borough of Whangarei make the following special order:—

“That from and after the 1st day of April, 1905, all existing subdivisions within the borough be abolished, and that thenceforth the number of Councillors, exclusive of the Mayor, be six.”

This special order to take effect from and after the 1st day of April, 1905.

The common seal of the body corporate called the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Whangarei was hereunto affixed and impressed by direction of the Whangarei Borough Council this 10th day of March, 1905.

SPECIAL ORDER MADE BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WELLINGTON.

The Council of the City of Wellington doth hereby, in exercise of the powers vested in it by section 182 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” resolve, by way of special order, that all subdivisions of the City of Wellington — namely, the Wellington and the Melrose Wards — be abolished from and after the 11th day of April, 1905.


Notice to Imprestees under “The Public Revenues Act, 1891.”

EVERY officer holding advances of public money is hereby required to pay to the Public Account, at the nearest branch of the Bank of New Zealand, the unexpended balance of his account on or before Friday, the 31st March proximo, and forthwith to transmit to the Treasury at Wellington the bank receipt for such repay-

ment, together with an account of his expenditure to the same date, as required by clause 4 of the Treasury Regulations.

As respects disbursements which officers may require to make immediately after the close of the financial year, requisitions for the amount required are to be made in such time as to enable them to reach Wellington not later than the 15th March, so that the requisite funds may be placed at the disposal of the officer as soon after the 1st April as possible.

REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 79 of 1904, issued by this Department on the 16th November last, the Otago Harbour Board has notified that No. 1 red beacon has been painted black, and becomes No. 1 port-hand beacon for the Western Channel leading across the Flat.

It is hereby notified that the power of the light at Cape Hermes Lighthouse, St. John’s River, Pondoland, is temporarily reduced, and the light is therefore not visible to the full extent stated in previous notices.

The present range of visibility is approximately eight to nine miles in clear weather.

CAPE OF GOOD HOPE.—SOUTH COAST.

Cape L’Agulhas Lighthouse.—Increase in Intensity of Power of Light.

Notice is hereby given that on and from 26th January, 1905, the existing fixed white light exhibited from the Cape L’Agulhas Lighthouse will be increased in intensity from 4,000 candles or 4 lighthouse units to 18,000 candles or 18 lighthouse units.

In all other respects the light remains unchanged.

The light is visible between the bearings of S.E. by E. and W.

The bearings are magnetic and are given from seawards.

The focal plane of the light is elevated 128 ft. above high water.

The light is visible for a distance of 17½ nautical miles in clear weather.
