  1. No general rate shall be levied or collected by any local
    authority from the said lands for the period of four years
    from the date from which in each case respectively such lands
    are disposed of, and no local authority shall have power to
    levy or collect any such rate from such lands during such
    period.

  2. After the first half-year's rent has been paid by the
    selector the further instalments of rent payable by him for
    a period of four years shall not be demanded: provided that
    if at any time during the first five years of his occupancy
    the selector disposes of his interest in the land the rent so
    conceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the
    Land Board may remit such instalments of rent payable
    by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the
    amount of rent previously conceded to the selector, as the
    Board shall think fit.

thirty miles from Westport by Main and Brown Creek Roads.
Fronts Inangahua River and Brown Creek. Altitude, from
about 215 ft. to 240 ft. above sea-level. Forest country:
about 46 acres first-class agricultural land, soil good, carrying
about 14,000 ft. of rimu and 16,000 ft. of kahikatea;
remainder of section pastoral, soil fair, carrying about
1,000 ft. of rimu and 1,000 ft. of kahikatea per acre; other
timber faulty. Undergrowth of lancewood, pepper-tree,
broadleaf, &c. Watered by Inangahua River and Brown
Creek.

Situated about twenty-one miles from Reefton and about
twenty-nine miles from Westport by Main and Brown Creek
Roads. Fronts Brown Creek Road and the Inangahua River.
Altitude, from about 220 ft. to 550 ft. above sea-level. Forest
country; pastoral; poor soil. Timber, about 300 ft. of kahikatea, 350 ft. of rimu, and 150 ft. of brown-birch per acre;
other timber mixed and faulty; on the eastern boundary
there are about 24,000 ft. of totara. About 10 acres at the
south-west corner and 15 acres at the north-west corner are
suitable for agriculture; good soil, clayey subsoil. Undergrowth consists of lancewood, pepper-tree, broadleaf, &c.
Well watered by small streams.

Situated about twenty miles from Reefton and about
thirty miles from Westport by Main Road and Brown Creek
Road, and fronts Inangahua River and Brown Creek. Altitude varies from 215 ft. to 250 ft. above sea-level. 30 acres
of forest fronting Inangahua River is first-class agricultural
land, and 20 acres further back is second-class agricultural
land, carrying about 40,000 ft. of kahikatea, 13,000 ft. of
black-pine, 4,000 ft. of rimu, and 3,000 ft. of brown-birch; flat
land; soil good, averaging 10 in. deep, clayey subsoil. The
remaining 139 acres of the section is suitable for pastoral
purposes; soil fair, from 4 in. to 6 in., clayey subsoil. Timber,
750 ft. of kahikatea, 750 ft. of rimu, per acre; brown, white,
and silver birch is faulty. Flat or slightly undulating.
Watered by small creeks and by the Inangahua River and
Brown Creek. Undergrowth lancewood, pepper-tree, broadleaf, &c.

Forest contains about 1,250 ft. of kahikatea and 900 ft. of rimu
per acre; brown, white, and silver birch is faulty. Soil
is fair, averaging about 6 in. deep, clayey subsoil; flat
land. Watered by small creek and by Brown Creek. Banks
of Inangahua River 10 ft. to 40 ft. perpendicular. Undergrowth consists of lancewood, pepper-tree, and broadleaf, &c.

thirty-one miles from Westport by Main Road and Brown
Creek Road, and fronts Inangahua River and Brown Creek.

40 acres of second-class agricultural land on terrace, carrying
about 2,000 ft. of kahikatea, 1,700 ft. of rimu, and 1,000 ft.
of brown-birch timber per acre; soil from 6 in. to 10 in. deep,
clayey subsoil. Remainder of section is pastoral, flat,
slightly undulating; soil fair, from 4 in. to 6 in., clayey
subsoil. Undergrowth consists of lancewood, pepper-tree,
broadleaf, &c. Watered by a small creek.

and thirty-two miles and a half from Westport by Main Road
and Brown Creek Road. Fronts Inangahua River, Brown
Creek, and Coal Creek. Altitude, from 300 ft. to 400 ft. above
sea-level. Pastoral and undulating land, covered with
forest carrying about 1,500 ft. of kahikatea, 1,500 ft. of rimu,
and 1,750 ft. of brown-birch per acre; also a few silver-pines
and white- and silver-birch. Undergrowth of lancewood,
pepper-tree, broadleaf, &c. Soil from fair to poor; clayey
subsoil. Watered only from Brown Creek. Banks of Inangahua River and Coal Creek precipitous, being 70 ft. to
100 ft.

Creek.

thirty-one miles and three-quarters from Westport by Main

Road and Brown Creek. Altitude, from about 290 ft. to 540 ft.
above sea-level. Forest land; hills and flats. About 30 acres
fronting Brown Creek is agricultural land, soil good, clayey
subsoil, shingle bottom; remainder pastoral. Timber on
section, about 1,000 ft. of kahikatea, 1,200 ft. of rimu, and
800 ft. of brown-birch per acre; some black-pine on agricultural portion. Watered by Camp Creek and tributaries of
Brown Creek. Undergrowth of lancewood, pepper-tree,
broadleaf, &c.
