Locality and General Description of Land.

This land is situated on the right bank of the Inangahua River, and extends in a southerly direction from near the confluence of the Inangahua River with the Buller River to Coal Creek. The northern portion of the land is distant about twenty-seven miles from Westport along a metalled coach-road. The southern portion is distant from Reefton about seventeen miles and a half by the same route.

The Reefton-Inangahua Section of the proposed Midland Railway intersects the northern portion of the land.

The country is covered with mixed forest, principally white-pine, brown-birch, black-birch, white-birch, scattered totara, rimu, and cedar, with the usual underscrub.

The soil varies from poor to good, resting on clay, shingle, and sandstone formation. The best portions of the land lie back from the Inangahua River. The inland portions consist of ridges and spurs.

The general altitude varies from 220 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level.

There are good sites for homesteads along the river and creeks. The land is well watered, and, when cleared and grassed, should be well adapted for dairy-farming.

Bridle-roads will be constructed in order to give access to the sections.
