Special Order made by the Council of the County of Stratford.

THE following special order, made by the Stratford County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

STRATFORD COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order making Special Rate.
THAT it be a special order. In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Stratford County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £2,400, authorised to be raised by the Stratford County Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of defraying the cost of forming and metalling the Lower Bird Road from the end of the present metal to the Robson Road, the Robson Road from the Bird Road to the Waihapa Road, and the Waihapa Road from its junction with the Robson Road northwards for a distance of 65 chains, and southwards for a distance of 37 chains, the whole being one continuous work, the Stratford County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 3½d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Bird, Robson, and Waihapa Roads Special-rating District, comprising part Section 10 (67 acres not included in the Bird-Skinner Road £800 Loan Special-rating District) of Block VII., part Section 11 (85 acres 1 rood 16 perches not included in the Bird-Skinner Road £800 Loan Special-rating District), and Sections 12, 44, and 45 of Block III., both blocks being in the Ngaiere Survey District; Subs. 4, 5, 6, and 7 of Subdivision 3, Pukengahu Block, and Lot 1 of Subdivision 2, Pukengahu Block: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of February in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off; the rate of interest to be 5 per cent. per annum.
The above special order was instituted at a special meeting of the Council held on the 24th day of August, and confirmed at a meeting held on the 21st day of September, 1904.

THE following special order, made by the Clifton County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

CLIFTON COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order.—Junction Road Loan, £150.
THAT, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges upon a loan of £150, authorised to be raised by the Clifton County Council, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for continuation of metalling on the Junction Road up to Purangi Bridge, the said Clifton County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ¼d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property comprised within the Junction Road Special-rating District, as follows: Sections 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, Block I., Ngatimaru Survey District; Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 18, 19, 21, 29, 30, 31, 32, 35, 36, 37, 38, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, Block II., Ngatimaru Survey District; Sections 22, 23, 29, Block VI., Ngatimaru Survey District; Sections 19, 25, Block V., Ngatimaru Survey District; Section 3, Block XIII., Upper Waitara Survey District; Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, Purangi Town: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and shall be payable in one sum on the 1st day of February in each and every year during a period equal to the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off; and the interest shall be at the rate of 4 per cent. per annum for the said period of forty-one years.
I hereby certify that the above special order was adopted at a special meeting of the Clifton County Council held on the 5th August, 1904, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting held on the 2nd September, 1904.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Devonport, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BOROUGH OF DEVONPORT.
RESULT of poll taken on 21st September, 1904, on the proposal to raise a special loan of £17,250, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the following undertakings and works:—
(1) £14,400 to provide additional pumping plant; (2) £1,000 to complete Stanley Point Drainage; (3) £850 to purchase stone-crusher; (4) £1,000 to construct retaining-wall along the foreshore.
Number of ratepayers and freeholders on the roll, 1,279; number of votes on the roll, 1,279.

Waterworks: Votes for the proposal, 132; votes against the proposal, 108.

Stanley Point Drainage: Votes for the proposal, 160; votes against the proposal, 80.

Stone-crusher: Votes for the proposal, 138; votes against the proposal, 106.

Retaining-wall: Votes for the proposal, 100; votes against the proposal, 143.

As the total number of votes recorded in favour of proposals Nos. 1, 2, and 3 exceed those against them, I declare such proposals to be duly carried. And as the total number of votes recorded against the proposal No. 4 exceed those in favour of the proposal, I declare such proposal rejected.

OROUA COUNTY COUNCIL.
THE following is the result of the poll of ratepayers taken in the Hiwinui and Otangaki Ridings on the 28th day of September, 1904, on a proposal to borrow £5,450 for the construction of the several works set forth in the schedule giving notice of the intention to raise such loan, advertised in the Manawatu Standard on the 19th, 26th August, 2nd, 9th September, 1904:—
Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 115; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 25; informal, 9.
As the total number of votes recorded for the proposal is more than three-fifths of the total number of votes recorded, I therefore declare the proposal carried.
