Very Reverend Dean CHARLES HENRY KIRK, Irish Rifle Volunteers,

who died on the 22nd March, 1904, be removed from the New Zealand Army List.

Formation of No. 2 Battalion, Wellington Defence Rifle Cadet Volunteers.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve, under paragraph 17, (3), “The Defence Act Amendment Act, 1900,” and 211 and 213, Volunteer Regulations, 1895, of the undermentioned corps in the Wellington Military District being formed into a battalion of Defence Rifle Cadet Volunteers, under the designation and numbered as set forth below, with headquarters at Napier, as from 21st September, 1904:—

No. 2 Battalion Wellington Defence Rifle Cadet Volunteers.
A Company—Napier High School Rifle Cadet Volunteers.
B Company—Te Aute College Rifle Cadet Volunteers.
C Company—Napier City Rifle Cadet Volunteers.
D Company—Napier Marist Brothers Rifle Cadet Volunteers.

Lieutenant-Colonel WILLIAM ALEXANDER DAY, 1st North Canterbury Battalion Infantry Volunteers,

he having, to 15th September, 1904, a total efficient rank and commissioned service entitling him thereto of twenty years.

THE following special order, made by the Masterton County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

MASTERTON COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order made by the Masterton County Council striking a Special Rate under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in this behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Council of the Masterton County hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing interest at the rate of £3 10s. per centum per annum and other charges on a loan of £200, authorised to be raised by the Masterton County Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of forming the Flat Bush Road, the said Masterton County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 37/160d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all the rateable property of the Flat Bush Road Loan Special-rating District, comprising Sections 82, 85, Block XVI., Mangaone Survey District; Sections 16, 88, 89, 90, Block IV., Kopuaranga Survey District; Sections 13, 15, Blocks I. and II., Mangapakeha Survey District; Lots 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 of Section 210, Blocks XIII., Puketoi Survey District, and I., Mangapakeha Survey District: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

Passed at a special meeting of the Council this 8th day of May, 1902; confirmed by the said Council this 12th day of June, 1902.

The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Masterton was affixed hereto in the presence of—
