Borough Council, is published in accordance with
the provisions of “ The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

TIMARU BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Borough Abattoir.—Special Order for making Additional Special Rate.

At a special meeting of the Timaru Borough Council held
on the 11th day of January, 1904, at the Borough Council
Chambers at Timaru, at 7.30 p.m., proposed by William
Satterthwaite, seconded by Arthur Oborn,—That this
Council do now resolve that the following resolution, viz.:
“ That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it
in that behalf by ‘ The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,’
‘ The Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1900,’ and ‘ The
Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ the Timaru Borough Coun-
cil hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of
providing interest, sinking fund, and other charges on an
additional loan of £650, being 10 per centum of two loans
of £5,500 and £1,000 respectively authorised to be raised by
the Timaru Borough Council under the provisions of ‘ The
Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ for the establishment of
an abattoir for the Borough of Timaru, the said Timaru
Borough Council hereby makes and levies an additional
special rate of ⅞d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable
valuation of all rateable property of the Borough of Timaru,
comprising all that area within the boundaries set forth
in the Third Schedule to the Proclamation published on
page 1192 of the New Zealand Gazette of the 28th of July,
1898, numbered 57 ; and that such additional special rate
shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of
such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of
January and the 1st day of July in each and every year
during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-
one years, or until the loan is fully paid off ; that a special
meeting of the Council be called for and held on the 11th
day of January, 1904, at the Borough Council Chambers,
Timaru, at 7.30 p.m., for the purpose of confirming the
foregoing resolution ”—which said resolution was adopted
by the Council at a special meeting thereof held on the 2nd
day of December, 1903, be now confirmed as a special order,
and that the common seal of the Corporation be affixed
thereto.

Passed by the Council of the Borough of Timaru, this
11th day of January, 1904.

I, James Craigie, Mayor of the Borough of Timaru, hereby
certify that the Timaru Borough Council has, by special
order, duly authorised the raising of the sum of £650 by
way of additional special loan, for the purpose of completing
an abattoir for the Borough of Timaru under section 5 of
“ The Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1900.”

THE following special order, made by the Kaitangata
Borough Council, is published in accordance with
the provisions of “ The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

KAITANGATA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Special Order making Special Rate.—Loan of £2,000.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by “ The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Kai-
tangata Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That,
for the purposes of providing the interest and other charges
on a loan of £2,000, authorised to be raised by the Kai-
tangata Borough Council, under the provisions of “ The
Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of making
the following streets within the Borough of Kaitangata—
(1) Eddystone Street between Torquay Street and Catherine
Street; (2) all streets between Torquay Street and Catherine
Street (inclusive), running from Eddystone Street to Sal-
combe Street; (3) Exmouth Street; (4) Water Street
between Exmouth Street and Exe Street, and between Tor-
quay Street and its southern boundary; (5) Salcombe Street,
Branksea Street, and Catherine Street; (6) to box-culvert
the Kaitangata Creek between the Railway and Traffic
Bridges — the said Kaitangata Borough Council hereby
makes and levies a special rate of 3d. in the pound upon the
rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Borough of
Kaitangata; and that such special rate shall be an annual-
recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be
payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day
of October in each and every year during the currency of
such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the
loan is fully paid off. It is proposed to pay out of the loan
the cost of raising the same and the interest for the first
year.

order made on the 16th December, 1903, and advertised four
consecutive weeks in the Bruce Herald newspaper—viz.,

confirmed at a special meeting of the Kaitangata Borough
Council held on 13th January, 1904.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration in the Boundaries of the Borough of Green Island.

Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, 26th January, 1904.

PURSUANT to section 176 of “ The Municipal Corpora-
tions Act, 1900,” His Excellency the Governor directs
it to be notified that a petition in accordance with regula-
tions, signed by not less than one-fourth of the electors of
the area described in the Schedule hereto, has been pre-
sented to him, praying that the said area may be excluded
from the County of Taieri and included in the Borough of
Green Island; and His Excellency further directs it to be
notified that it is proposed that the said area shall constitute
two new wards, to be called respectively the East Ward and
the West Ward.

All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any
written objections to or petitions against the proposed
alteration within one month from the first publication of
this notice.

Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and for-
warded to the Colonial Secretary, Wellington.
