PRIVATE ADVERTISEMENTS.
CHRISTCHURCH CITY ABATTOIR.
IN pursuance of “The Slaughtering and Inspection Act,
1900,” section 27, the Christchurch City Council, as
the controlling authority of the registered abattoir situate at
Sockburn, established and available for the slaughter of
stock in the Christchurch Abattoir District, doth hereby fix
the following fees as those to be paid to the Council as such
authority in respect of meat from stock slaughtered in any
licensed meat-export slaughterhouse, and sold or exposed for
sale within the Christchurch Abattoir District, namely :—
s. d.
Each carcase of beef . . . . . . 4 0
Each carcase of mutton, lamb, veal, or pork . . 1 0
In those cases in which a portion only of any carcase of
beef, mutton, lamb, veal, or pork from stock slaughtered at
a meat-export slaughterhouse is sold or exposed for sale
within the said abattoir district, the same fees shall be paid
in respect of such portion of a carcase as would be payable
if the whole of the carcase from which such portion was
taken were to be so sold or exposed for sale within the said
district. Payment of such fees in respect of any portion of
a carcase of meat slaughtered at a meat-export slaughter-
house, and sold or exposed for sale within the said abattoir
district, shall exempt the remainder of the carcase from
which such portion was taken, and any person selling or
exposing the same for sale within the said abattoir district,
from liability in respect to such fees.
The said scale of fees shall come into operation on the
16th day of August, 1904.

BOROUGH OF CAVERSHAM.
In the matter of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and in the
matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900.”
NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the
Borough of Caversham has resolved to widen For-
bury Road at the junction of the said road with Cargill
Road and David Street, as shown by the survey of William
Jones Hall, and indicated by a red colour in the plan pre-
pared by him, dated 14th April, 1904, and deposited in the
office of the Chief Surveyor at Dunedin as No. J200, and
for such purpose to take, under the provisions of the above-
mentioned Acts, all that parcel of land in the Provincial
District of Otago, containing 1·3 poles, more or less, being
part of Allotments numbered respectively 52 and 60 on the
map of the Township of Calderville, bounded as follows :
Towards the south-west by David Street, 18·6 links ; to-
wards the north-west by other parts of said Allotments
52 and 60, 65·5 links ; towards the south-east by Forbury
Road and Cargill Road, 23·9 links and 38 links. And notice
is hereby further given that a copy of the said plan is de-
posited in the office of the Town Clerk of the Borough of
Caversham, where it is open for inspection by all persons at
all reasonable hours ; and the Council calls upon all persons
affected to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections
to the execution of such works or to the taking of such
lands, and to send such writing to the Council within forty
days from the first publication of this notice.

BOROUGH OF MASTERTON.
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND FOR WIDENING JOHNSTONE
STREET, IN THE BOROUGH OF MASTERTON.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” to
execute a certain public work, to wit, the widening of that
portion of Johnstone Street lying within the Borough of
Masterton, running through Sections 17, 7, 8, 15, 9, 16, 10,
14, 11, 13, and 12 on the public map of the Small-farm
Settlement of Masterton, and through part of the block of
land known as the Kohutu Block, and for the purposes of
such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken ; and notice is further given that the
plan of the said road and of the land so required to be taken
is deposited in the Borough Council Chambers, Chapel
Street, Masterton, and is there open for inspection. And
notice is also hereby given that all persons affected by the
execution of the said public work or by the taking of the
said land shall, if they have any well-grounded objections to
the execution of the said public work or to the taking of
such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such
writing, within forty days from the first publication of this
notice, to the Town Clerk, Masterton.
