SCHEDULE.

Description and Purpose of Original Reserve. Portion which it is intended to change. Intended Purpose.
A block of land, situated in the Town of Picton aforesaid, bounded on the north-east by the sea; on the eastward by Market Reserve and by London Quay; on the south-east, 460 links, by the mud flat; on the southward by London Quay, the Market Reserve, and for 1300 links by Dublin Street; on the west by Shakespeare Road; and on the north-west by public road in continuation of Shakespeare Road: containing about 53 acres and 25 perches. Reserved for public utility on the 23rd September, 1861, in Marlborough Provincial Gazette, No. 25. of 4th October, 1861, page 66. All that area in the Marlborough Land District, containing by admeasurement 39 perches, more or less, being Section No. 1160. Commencing at a point on the east side of Wellington Street, Town of Picton, the said point being distant 390 links in a northerly direction from the north side of Dublin Street, and proceeding thence in a northerly direction along the said Wellington Street, a distance of 270 links; thence in an easterly direction by a line at a right angle to said street, a distance of 90 links; thence in a southerly direction by a line at a right angle, a distance of 270 links; and thence in a westerly direction by a line at right angle, a distance of 90 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 38854A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red. Municipal buildings.

Rural Lands in Nelson Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-six of “The Land Act, 1892,” and section two of “The Bush and Swamp Crown Lands Settlement Act, 1903,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare and provide as follows, that is to say,—

  1. The rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto are hereby set apart for disposal by way of selection on and after the seventh day of September, one thousand nine hundred and four, at the rentals specified in the said Schedule.

  2. The said lands may be selected on lease in perpetuity only, as provided by section one hundred and twenty-one of “The Land Act, 1892,” as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone, and shall not be purchased for cash.

  3. For the purposes of “The Bush and Swamp Crown Lands Settlement Act, 1903,” the lands enumerated in the said Schedule hereto shall be deemed to be “heavy-bush land.”

  4. No general rate shall be levied or collected by any local authority from the said lands for the period of four years from the date from which in each case respectively such lands are disposed of, and no local authority shall have power to levy or collect any such rate from such lands during such period.

  5. After the first half-year’s rent has been paid by the selector the further instalments of rent payable by him for a period of four years shall not be demanded; provided that if at any time during the first five years of his occupancy the selector disposes of his interest in the land the rent so conceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the Land Board may remit such instalments of rent payable by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the amount of rent previously conceded to the selector, as the Board shall think fit,

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.

Second-class Unsurveyed Heavy-bush Land.

All low hills and gullies, with a few small flats in the creeks; covered with bush, principally birch, with a little rimu; formation, sandstone gravels. Access by unformed roads up the River Sherry and the various branches of the River Tadmor, and by the main coach-road to Reef ton. This block is distant generally from fifteen to twenty miles from the proposed railway terminus in Tadmor Valley.
Kaiteriteri Survey District.
IV., V., VII., VIII. 4,350 0 0 0 2·88
About a quarter open fern and manuka hills, remainder rough hills covered with bush, chiefly birch with a sprinkling of rimu, and very thick undergrowth in gullies; formation, principally granite. Accessible by branch road from the Motueka–Takaka main road, and by branch roads from Sandy Bay Road. Distant about ten miles from Motueka Post-office.
Waitapu Survey District.

Hilly and covered with forest, chiefly brown and red birch, with rimu and pukatea in gullies; thick underscrub; formation, limestone and slate. Access by branch roads from the Collingwood–Takaka Inland Road, distant eight miles from the Town of Collingwood and nine miles from the Port of Waitapu.
