THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the City of Wellington, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”
Notice is hereby given that, at a poll of the electors (other than those enrolled upon a residential qualification) held in the City of Wellington on the 20th day of July, 1904, upon the proposal of the Council of the City of Wellington set out below, such proposal was duly carried, the votes recorded being,—
For the proposal, 634; against the proposal, 156.
The said proposal was as follows:—
In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”
The Council of the City of Wellington hereby gives public notice that such Council proposes to borrow (by way of special loan within the meaning of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901”) the sum of £33,500, to be expended on the undertakings as hereunder set forth:—
ISLAND BAY DISTRICT.
For street and footpath formation, channelling and metalling, &c. .. £ 8,837
Engineering and contingencies .. 1,163

KILBIRNIE DISTRICT.
For street and footpath formation, channelling and metalling, &c. .. 8,858

Each of the above sums being appropriated to the district and the work above set forth.
The Council proposes to pledge a special rate of ⅖d. in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property within the Island Bay, Kilbirnie, and Ohiro Districts of the City of Wellington, otherwise known as the Melrose Ward thereof, as security for the said loan of £33,500 and the interest and sinking fund thereon. It is proposed that the whole amount of the loan shall be repayable at the expiration of a term of twenty-five years, computed from the 1st September, 1904. It is proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan, and the interest thereon for the first year.
