HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to issue Letters of Naturalisation, under “The Aliens Act, 1880,” in favour of the undermentioned persons:—

THE following special order, made by the Otaki Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

OTAKI ROAD BOARD.
Special Order making Special Rate.
THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Otaki Road Board resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £100, authorised to be raised by the Otaki Road Board under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” subsection (3) of clause 14, and “The Public Works Act, 1894,” clause 113, for the purpose of defraying the cost of erection of the Ohau High-level Bridge, the said Otaki Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/10d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Otaki Road District; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the above special order was made at a special meeting of the Board held this day, the 14th July, 1904.

KIWITEA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order.
THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in them in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Kiwitea County Council do hereby resolve as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £200, authorised to be raised by the Kiwitea County Council under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of metalling about 50 chains of the Kawhatau Valley Road, the said Kiwitea County Council do hereby make and levy a special rate of ¾d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Kawhatau Valley Road Special-rating District, comprising Sections 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, 16, 17, 18, 20, 22, Block XI., Hautapu Survey District; Sections 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, Block XII., Hautapu Survey District; Sections 7, 8, 9, 10, 16, and Section 1, Blocks VI., VII., Hautapu Survey District; and Sections 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, Block VI., Hawaenga, Hautapu Survey District: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during a period equal to the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The cost of raising the loan, and the interest for the first year, shall be paid out of the aforesaid sum of £200.
I, Samuel J. Carman, Chairman of the Kiwitea County Council, do hereby certify that the above is a true copy of a special order adopted at a special meeting of the Council held on the 19th March, 1904, and confirmed at a special meeting of the Council held on the 16th April, 1904.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Te Aroha, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BOROUGH OF TE AROHA.
Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.
PUBLIC notice is hereby given that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Te Aroha duly held in the said borough on Thursday, the 14th day of July, 1904, upon the proposal of the Council of the said borough hereinafter set forth, the number of votes recorded for and against the said proposal was as follows, that is to say,—
For the proposal, 145; against the proposal, 14: majority in favour, 131.
And I, Andrew Joseph Farmer, the Mayor of the said borough, do hereby declare the said proposal carried.
The said proposal is as follows: To raise, under Part I. of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” a special loan for the purpose of doing all things necessary to light the streets and public places of the Borough of Te Aroha with electricity, and to supply electricity to the inhabitants thereof. The sum proposed to be borrowed is £4,000, at a rate of interest not to exceed £5 per centum per annum. The Council propose to appropriate and pledge as security for the loan and interest (a) the works, lands, buildings, erections, machinery, plant, and appliances of the electrical installation, and the revenues to be derived therefrom; and (b) a special rate of 8d. per pound on the rateable value (on the basis of annual value) of all rateable property within the borough; and it is provided that the said loan shall be repayable at the expiration of twenty years from the 1st day of January, 1905. It is proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising same, and the interest for the first year.

I HEREBY give notice that the following is the result of a poll taken at the Selwyn County Council Chambers, Christchurch; the East Malvern Road Board Office, Sheffield; the Courthouse, Darfield; the Courtenay Road Board Office, Kirwee; and the Schoolhouse, West Melton, on Monday, the 11th day of July, 1904, on the proposal of the Selwyn County Council to borrow £2,500 under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” to provide funds to complete the construction of a water-race from the River Kowai for the purpose of supplying water to the district constituted by “The Water-supply Act, 1891,” and known as the Malvern Water-supply District, and to levy a special rate within the said district as security for such loan:—
