The above special order was duly made and passed at a special meeting of the Council on 7th November, and confirmed at a special meeting on the 23rd December, 1903.

FEATHERSTON COUNTY COUNCIL.

SPECIAL ORDERS making Special Rates.—Loan of £100 for Construction of Range Road, and Loan of £52 for metalling Pahaoa Road.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Featherston County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

(1.) That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £100 (being 10 per cent. additional on loan of £1,000), authorised to be raised by the Featherston County Council under the provisions of subsection (3) of section 68 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for construction of Range Road, within the Awhea Riding, the said Featherston County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅞d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Range Road Special-rating District, comprising Section 210, Block IX. (617 acres), Waipawa S.D.; Sections 63, 70, 71, part 197, part 198, Block I., Sections 194 and 195, Block II., Sections 1, 5, 105, 107, 108, and 211, Block IX., Opuawe S.D.; Sections 106, 162, and 209, Block X., Sections 1, 109, 110, 112, 114–119, 188, 190, 191, and 192, Block XIII., Sections 111, 113, and 193, Block XIV., Waipawa S.D. (12,633 acres); Section 25, Blocks III. and IV. (1,985 acres), Kaiwaka S.D.; Section 208, Block IX. (400 acres), Waipawa S.D.; Sections part 8, part 8, part 9, part 9, 66, 200, 201, Kawaka S.D.; Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, and 12, Blocks IV., VIII., and IX., Sections 190 and 191, Block XIII., Waipawa S.D.; Sections 10, 26, 27, 38, 63–65, 67–72, 197, 199, 11–16, 20–25, 28–33, 35–37, 203, 196, 17–19, 99, 187, N.B. 665, Blocks I. and II. (16,368 acres and 27 perches), Opuawe S.D.: such rate to be in addition to the special rate of ⅜d. in the pound made on the 9th June, 1900, in respect of the said loan of £1,000: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-two years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

(2.) That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £52 (being 10 per cent. additional charge on loan of £525), authorised to be raised by the Featherston County Council under the provisions of subsection (3) of section 68 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for metalling Pahaoa Road, within the Pahaoa Riding, the said Featherston County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 2½d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Pahaoa Road-metalling Special-rating District, comprising 2a, 2b, 1b, Pahaoa and Island, 636 acres 1 rood 13 perches; part No. 5, Pahaoa N.B. I hereby certify that the above special orders were duly made on the 25th day of November, 1903, and duly confirmed on the 9th day of January, 1904.

Notice as to Day for closing under “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894.”

WHEREAS the local authorities respectively mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto have duly notified to me that the days upon which the shops in their respective districts shall be closed, pursuant to the provisions of “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894,” are the days set opposite their respective names in the second column of the said Schedule:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by the said Act, I, Thomas Young Duncan, acting for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint that the said respective days shall be the days upon which all shops in the said respective districts shall be closed.

Notice as to Day for closing under “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894.”

NOTICE is hereby given that, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894,” and of all other powers and authorities me hereto enabling, and in terms of notice in writing duly received by me from the Chairman of the conference of delegates of all the local authorities comprised in the district constituted for the purposes of that Act by the Boroughs of the City of Dunedin, Caversham, South Dunedin, St. Kilda, Mornington, Roslyn, Maori Hill, North-east Valley, West Harbour, and Port Chalmers (being all the boroughs or town districts any part of any one of which is situated within a mile of any part of another), I, Thomas Young Duncan, acting for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, hereby appoint Wednesday to be the day on which all shops in the said district shall be closed as provided by that Act.
