sloping and steep, getting easier towards the valley, with considerable area open swamp; Section 1 is the roughest. Section 8 comprises good slopes on front, rising steep at back. The forest generally is light, comprising tawa, rata, rimu, kakikatea, rewarewa, with black-birch on top of spurs. Soil fair to good, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 550 ft. to 1,600 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Mokau-Ohura Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant nineteen miles by dray-road, four miles by pack-track, and four and a half miles by surveyed road. There is a pack-track to this section away from surveyed road. Generally this section comprises low ridges and flats, chiefly covered with fern and scrub and a little mixed forest along Huiotoki Stream, also small area swamp. The soil is fair to good, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 350 ft. to 570 ft. above sea-level.

ARIA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Situated on Kiekie Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant sixteen miles by dray-road, four miles by pack-track, and nine miles by surveyed road. There is also a pack-track across country to the section. Country comprises low hills, with few acres of patchy bush, remainder manuka, fern, &c. The soil is fair, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 200 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Ohura-Mokau Road. Access is from Ongarue, distant nineteen miles by dray-road and about three miles by good pack-track, off surveyed road. The land is undulating and fairly sloping, the greater portion being open, with small flats on frontage. The forest is partly light, comprising rata, tawa, rimu, rewarewa. Fair soil, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 520 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Mokau-Ohura Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant thirty to thirty-five miles, sixteen miles of which distance is by dray-road and the remainder by surveyed and pack roads. Section 3, Block III., is mostly open, with flat along Huioteko, rising to centre and falling to Kaeaee Road. Section 3, Block VII., comprises low fern spurs, with small area of scrub and light bush, consisting of tawa, rimu, rewarewa, kahikatea, and thick undergrowth. The soil is poor to good on flats, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 450 ft. to 1,100 ft. above sea-level.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirteenth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Friday, the twenty-sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and four, as the time at which the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto opposite the description of such lands respectively.
