Situated on Whenuakura Road. Access is from Ongarue, nineteen miles by dray-road and three miles by surveyed road, with pack-track across country. The land is hilly and undulating, a considerable area of it is open; fern and scrub towards Whenuakura, with light and heavy forest of rata, rimu, kahikatea, tawa, towhai. Good soil, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 520 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Kiekie Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant sixteen miles by dray-road and thence eleven miles by surveyed road and pack-track. The country comprises steep ridges and easy slopes, with some swamps; chiefly open land, intermixed with scrub and light forest of tawa, hinau, rewarewa. Fair soil, on sandstone formation; fairly watered. Elevation varies from 450 ft. to 1,050 ft.

Situated on Ohura-Mokau and Kaeaeae Roads. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant sixteen miles by formed and partly metalled dray-road, and twelve miles and a half by surveyed road. There is a pack-track across country. The country consists of low-lying swampy lands, open fern ridges, and flats, with scrub and patches of mixed forest. The soil generally is fair on ridges, good on flats, on papa formation; well watered by streams and swamps. Elevation varies from 340 ft. to 580 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Mokau-Ohura Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant sixteen miles by dray-road formed and partly metalled, and fourteen miles and a half by surveyed road, with pack-track generally off line of road. These sections comprise undulating and flat land, more or less covered with manuka, open fern, and light forest; the forest comprises tawa, rewarewa, kahikatea in swamp, rimu, tawhero, &c. The soil is poor to fair on ridges, good on flats and in forest portions; papa-and-sandstone formation; well watered by streams and swamps. Elevation varies from 400 ft. to 925 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Onaio and Pukia Roads. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant sixteen miles by dray-road and fifteen miles by surveyed road and riding-track. The land is generally low open hills, with fern and scrub in front and small swamps rising at back; mixed forest, tawa, &c. Good soil, on papa formation; fairly watered. Elevation varies from 400 ft. to 1,800 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Mokau-Ohura Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant sixteen miles by formed and partly metalled dray-road, and seventeen miles and a half by surveyed road and pack-track. The section is undulating and hilly; about 400 acres manuka scrub, remainder light bush of tawa, rewarewa, rimu, tawhero. Soil poor to good, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 450 ft. to 1,850 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Waitawhena Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant sixteen miles by dray-road and seventeen to twenty miles by surveyed road or pack-track. This section comprises steep ridges and sidlings rising from Parahaka Stream; small manuka flats on frontage. Forest consists of tawa, tawhero, &c.; heavy undergrowth. Soil is poor, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 300 ft. to 1,100 ft. above sea-level.

These sections are situated on Paraheka Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant thirty-one to thirty-five miles, of which distance sixteen miles is by dray-road and fifteen to nineteen miles by pack-track or surveyed road. On Sections 4, 6, 7, Block V., there are considerable portions of open, fern, and swamp land, with manuka in places; the balance is light forest. Sections 2 and 4, Block VI., comprise light forest only, the country being undulating and sloping, and forest consisting of tawa, hinau, kahikatea, birch, manuka, &c. The soil is fair to good, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 200 ft. to 1,100 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Waikaka Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant sixteen miles by dray-road and twenty-one miles by pack-track or surveyed road. Fair broken slopes and spurs; light forest of rata, rimu, kahikatea, and tawa, with birch on the ridges, and undergrowth. The soil is fair, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 600 ft. to 1,500 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Ohura-Mokau Road. Access is from Ongarue, distant nineteen miles by dray-road and thence ten miles by surveyed road or pack-track. About three-fourths of section is open fern and scrub, remainder light forest of tawa, rata, rimu, rewarewa, &c., with thick undergrowth. Hilly, undulating, and broken country; fair soil, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 670 ft. to 1,350 ft. above sea-level.

Access is from Ongarue, distant twenty-seven and a half to thirty-three miles, of which distance twenty-two miles and a half is by dray-road and the remaining distance by surveyed road and pack-track. About three-fourths of Section 1 is open, rough, and broken country, covered with fern and scrub; remainder light bush and manuka on ridges. Section 2 is rough and broken, with light bush. Sections 8 and 9 are steep and broken at back, terraces and easier land in front, with 170 acres scrub and fern on Section 8, and about 100 acres on Section 9. Section 26 similar to the others in quality, with light bush to scrub in front. Forest consists of tawa, rata, rimu, kahikatea, &c.; black-birch on higher spurs and ridges. Fair soil, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 500 ft. to 1,600 ft. above sea-level.
