The soil is fair, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 600 ft. to 1,360 ft. above sea-level.

Fair soil, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 569 ft. to 1,300 ft. above sea-level.

This section comprises undulating land with flats along streams; fern, scrub, and generally light forest of rata, rimu, tawa, &c.; fair soil, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 530 ft. to 1,100 ft. above sea-level.

These sections are situate on Kokopuiti Road. Access is from Ongarue, distant by dray-road thirty-one miles and by horse-track ten to twelve miles. The land is level, hilly, and undulating, covered with forest; portions of Sections 25 and 12 are partially open and light scrub country; the balance is chiefly light to fairly heavy forest, comprising tawa, tawhero, hinau, rimu, rata, &c., and mixed undergrowth. The soil is good, on papa-and-sandstone formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 460 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level.

The country comprises level, hilly, and undulating land; forest and scrub consisting of tawa, matai, hinau, rimu, manuka, &c., with thick undergrowth. The soil is good, on papa-and-sandstone formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 700 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level.

Elevation varies from 460 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Potaka Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, sixteen miles by dray-road, four miles pack-track, and nine to eleven and a half miles by surveyed road only. There is a pack-track across country to the section. This section comprises low hills, spurs, small flats, and swamp land, more or less covered with manuka, scrub, fern, &c., with about 90 acres of light bush—tawa, rimu, &c. The soil is fair, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 175 ft. to 750 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Kumara Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant twenty-seven to thirty-two and a half miles—sixteen miles by dray-road, four miles by pack-track, and seven to twelve and a half miles by surveyed road. There is a pack-track to sections across country. These sections comprise low hills, spurs, and small flats on streams, with swamps. Forest consists of tawa, kahikatea, rimu, &c.; about half light bush and manuka scrub intermixed with grass, &c. The soil is fair, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 150 ft. to 775 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Kiekie Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant twenty-eight to twenty-nine miles—by dray-road for sixteen miles, remainder surveyed road only, but accessible by pack-track across country. The land is generally hilly and undulating, with flats in places along streams. Sections 7 and 10 are nearly all light forest, about one-third manuka and scrub and small patches of grass. About 18 acres swamp on Section 3; other portions of that section and Section 4 are covered with light forest, comprising tawa, hinau, rata, titoki, kahikatea, &c., and fairly heavy undergrowth of mixed scrub. The soil is fair, on papa-and-sandstone formation. Sections 7, 10, and 3 are indifferently watered; Section 4 is well watered. Elevation varies from 150 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Pao Road (a branch of Paro Road). Access is from Te Kuiti—by dray-road for sixteen miles, by pack-track four miles, and by surveyed road eleven and a half miles. There is a pack-track across country to this section. About 150 acres, more or less, open or light-scrub country and swamp, intermixed with grass flats in places, and comprising sidlings and gullies. The forest is light, consisting of tawa, rewarewa, &c., with manuka on spurs and kakikatea on wet flats; light undergrowth. Soil fair, on papa-and-sandstone formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 400 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Kaeaeae Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant thirty and a half to thirty-one and a half miles —sixteen miles dray-road, four miles pack-track, and remainder surveyed road, with pack-track across country. These sections comprise a considerable proportion of open, low scrub country and swamp on the front portion, rising to light-bush ridges on the back. The forest consists of rewarewa, rimu, tawa, &c., with a thick undergrowth; fairly well watered. Elevation varies from 400 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Parakeka Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant thirty-one miles—by dray-road sixteen miles, by pack-track four miles, and remainder by surveyed road. This section comprises bush hills and fern country, with swamps, rising from road to back. The soil is good, on papa formation, and well watered; forest is light, comprising tawa, tawhero, with manuka in open and kahikatea on wet portions. Elevation varies from 250 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Waikaka Road. Access is from Ongarue, distant from twenty-five to thirty-three and a half miles—by dray-road for twenty-two and a half miles, and remaining distance by surveyed road, with pack-track close to section. There will be a nearer road via Whenuakura Valley when made. The country is level, undulating, and terrace land. Section 7 is covered mostly with light bush and scrub. There is a considerable area of swamp in Section 14, with manuka, toitoi, &c., and small patches of bush, which consists of tawa, rata, rimu, &c., with thick undergrowth. The soil is fair to good, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 520 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level.
