Situated on Waitawhena Road. Access is from Te Kuiti —for sixteen miles by dray-road, four miles by pack-track, and then sixteen miles by surveyed road only. There is a pack-track across country to this land. Access may also be had from Ongarue—by dray-road twenty-seven miles and a half, and by surveyed road chiefly for thirteen miles and a half. There is a shorter route via Prentice Road. This section is forest land, comprising small flats along stream, with steep spurs at back. The forest consists of rata, rimu, kahikatea, tawa, and scattered totara, with thick undergrowth. The soil is good, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 600 ft. to 1,400 ft. above sea-level.

This section is situated on Mokau-Ohura Road. Access thereto is from Te Kuiti—by dray-road for sixteen miles and by pack-track nineteen miles and a half. The land consists of easy ridges covered with fairly heavy forest of tawa, rimu, &c. There is a fern and scrub clearing at northern end of section. The soil is good, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 700 ft. to 1,100 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Waikaka Road. Access to this section is from Ongarue—by dray-road twenty-two miles and a half and by surveyed road six miles and a half; pack-track close to section. There is a nearer approach road via Whenuakura Valley. Undulating and terrace land; light to fairly heavy forest, with birch on the tops of the ridges. Soil fair, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 520 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Whenuakura Road. Access is from Ongarue —by dray-road nineteen miles, thence by surveyed road three miles and a half. There is pack-track across country. The land is hilly and undulating. Mostly light to heavy forest of tawa, rimu, kahikatea, &c.; part is scrub land. Soil is good, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 550 ft. to 1,050 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Waro Road. Access thereto is from Ongarue —by dray-road thirty-one miles, thence by horse-track six miles, mostly across country, and by walking-track two miles. Hilly and undulating country, and broken heavy forest of rata, pukatea, tawa, hinau, and matai. Good soil, on papa-and-sandstone formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 650 ft. to 1,900 ft. above sea-level.

This section comprises generally rough and broken country, about 173 acres being fern and light manuka, with part swamp; remainder light to heavy forest, comprising birch, tawa, rewarewa, rata, &c., with thick undergrowth. The soil generally is poor, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from about 400 ft. to 1,100 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Paro and branch road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant thirty-three to thirty-four and a half miles, sixteen miles of which is along dray-road, remainder along surveyed road and pack-track across country. This section is hilly and ridgy, with some terraces and low spurs on frontage; covered with mixed forest of tawa, hinau, kahikatea, birch, manuka. Fair to good soil, on papa-and-sandstone formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 400 ft. to 1,100 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Parakoko Road. Access is from Te Kuiti, distant thirty-one miles, sixteen miles of which is along dray-road and remainder along surveyed road or pack-track. This section comprises hilly land, terraces, some swamps, covered with mixed forest of tawa, tawhero, &c. The soil is fair, on papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 250 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea level.

These sections are situated on Waitehena Road. Access to them is from Te Kuiti, distant thirty-five to forty-one miles, sixteen miles of which is dray-road, the remaining distance being along surveyed road or pack-track. There is also access from Ongarue, thirty-nine and a half to forty-five miles distant, twenty-seven miles and a half of that distance being along dray-road. The land comprises undulating, steep, and broken spurs, with some fair ridges and small flats on streams. The roughest sections are 6 and 7, Block VI.; 2, Block IX.; 3, Block X., these having black-birch on ridges. There is heavy forest on all the sections excepting Section 8, Block V., where it is light. The forest comprises rata, tawa, rimu, birch, tawhero, manuka, with few scattered totara. The soil is poor, and varies from fair to good; papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 300 ft. to 1,600 ft. above sea-level.

These sections are situated on Waitehena Road. Access to them is from Ongarue, distant thirty to thirty-seven and a half miles, of which distance twenty-seven and a half miles is by dray-road, and the remainder by partly cleared pack-track, chiefly surveyed road. The land comprises steep spurs and undulations, with narrow flats on streams. The soil generally is fair on spurs and good on easy slopes and flats, on papa formation; well watered. The forest is from light to heavy on Section 7, Block XIV., Aria, and on 1, Block II., Ohura; all the other sections are covered with heavy forest comprising rata, rimu, kahikatea, tawa, with black-birch in places, particularly on the higher ridges and spurs. There are also a few totara-trees. There are 25 acres swamp on Section 4, Block XIII., and 65 acres on Section 7, Block XIV., Aria. The general elevation varies from 600 ft. to 1,600 ft., rising to 1,856 ft. above sea-level on Section 1, Block I., Ohura.

Situated on Turoto Road. Access from Ongarue, distant about twenty-nine miles—twenty-four miles and a half dray-road, about two miles horse-road, remainder surveyed road only. (The Ohura River is fairly navigable for canoes.) Rough hills, occasional flats in valleys; heavy mixed forest —rata, rimu, tawa, &c. Fair soil, papa formation; well watered. Elevation, 500 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level.
