Radnor Road from the end of the present metal westward, £50 of the said loan to be spent west of the Barclay Road to give access to Section 35, Block XVI., Egmont Survey District, to pay out of such loan the cost of raising it, the Manganui Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 4d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all the rateable property in the Radnor Road Special-rating District, comprising Sections 33, 35, 36, 37, Block XVI., Egmont Survey District; and that such special rate be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off: the rate of interest to be 4½ per cent. per annum.”

Special Order, Croydon Road East Loan of £600.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in them in that behalf by “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, the Manganui Road Board hereby resolves as follows: “That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of £600, authorised to be raised by the Manganui Road Board, under the provisions of ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ and its amendments, for the purpose of grading, forming, and metalling the Croydon Road East, to pay out of such loan the cost of raising it, the Manganui Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 3d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all the rateable property in the Croydon Road East Special-rating District, comprising Sections 50, 53, 54, half 51, and half 52, Block XIV., Huiroa Survey District; and that such special rate be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off: the rate of interest to be five per cent. per annum.”

THE following special order, made by the Berwick Drainage Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BERWICK DRAINAGE DISTRICT.

Special Order making Special Rate confirmed.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Berwick Drainage Board hereby resolve as follows: “That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £300, authorised to be raised by the Berwick Drainage Board under the above-mentioned Act, for raising and strengthening the Waipori River embankment, the said Berwick Drainage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Berwick Drainage District—comprising all that area in the Otago Land District situated in Blocks II. and VI., Maungatua Survey District, including the whole of the Township of Berwick, bounded towards the north-east generally by Sections 2 of 11, 2 of 9, 1 of 9, a public road, and Section 10, Block II., aforesaid; Sections 56, 55, and 54, Block VI. aforesaid: towards the south-east forming the south-east boundary of Section 8, and including Section 9, Block VI., Maungatua aforesaid: towards the south-east generally by the Waipori River: and towards the north-west by Section 44, Block II., Maungatua aforesaid—and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and 1st day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off: first half-year’s rate to be paid 1st June, 1904.”

At a meeting of the Berwick Drainage Board held this 2nd day of May, 1904, the above special order was duly confirmed.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

Sir,—I have the honour to give you notice that at a poll of the electors (other than than those enrolled upon a residential qualification) held in the City of Wellington on the 3rd day of May, 1904, upon the proposal of the Council of the City of Wellington set out below, such proposal was duly carried, the votes recorded being—For the proposal, 483; against the proposal, 217.

The said proposal was as follows:—

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and “The Tramways Act, 1894.”

The Council of the City of Wellington hereby gives public notice that such Council proposes to borrow (by way of special loan within the meaning of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901) the sum of £75,000, to be expended on the undertakings as hereunder set forth.

Undertakings.

Construction of electric tramways, wood-paving streets, and erection of and furnishing town hall and municipal offices.

Shortage of Loan authorised.

Additional sums required to make up the shortage in the production of the £330,000 loan already authorised, which was intended to be floated at par, but only realised £308,550—i.e., £93 10s. per cent. net.
