as the Wyndham Road District, comprising all that area in the Provincial District of Otago, in the Colony of New Zealand, containing by estimation 27,700 acres, more or less, commencing at the junction of the Mimihaau Stream with the Mataura River; thence in a north-easterly direction by said Mimihaau Stream to a point due north of Trigonometrical Station T of Wyndham Survey District; thence by a straight line due south to said Trigonometrical Station T, and along the eastern boundary of said Wyndham Survey District to the Wyndham River; thence in a north-westerly direction by the said Wyndham River, and by south-western boundary of Section 15, Block IV., said Wyndham Survey District, to its junction with the Mataura River; thence in a northerly direction by said Mataura River to its junction with the Mimihaau Stream, being the starting-point: and also resolves that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 4th day of May and the 4th day of November in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of seven years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of the resolution making the special rate in the Wyndham Road District (merged in Southland County), at the special meeting of the Southland County Council held on 11th March, 1904.

Resolution to raise Loan.

THAT, for the purpose of paying so much of the principal of a loan as is not provided for by the accumulated sinking funds held for the payment thereof raised by the Wyndham Road Board, and which becomes payable on the 5th day of May, 1904, and also for the purpose of paying off and consolidating certain loans heretofore raised by the Wyndham Road Board, which become payable on the 1st day of March and the 1st day of April, 1905, and on the 1st day of April, 1907, this Council resolves to borrow, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, the sum of £1,500, payable seven years after the raising of the same, and bearing interest at the rate of £4 10s. per centum per annum; and also resolves to raise such loan by the issue of fourteen debentures of £100 each, under the same Acts: this resolution to operate as a special order under the Counties Act.

I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of the resolution to raise loan in Wyndham Road District (merged in Southland County) passed at special meeting of the Southland County Council held on 11th March, 1904.

THAT this Council hereby confirms the special order, being resolution No. 3 of 11th March, 1904, making a special rate in the Wyndham Road District (sometime merged in Southland County) of 1d. in the pound on the unimproved rateable value of the rateable property in the said district, such special order to come into force on 4th May, 1904.

I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of the resolution passed at special meeting of the Southland County Council held on 15th April, 1904, confirming the resolution making a special rate in the Wyndham Road District (merged in Southland County), passed at special meeting held on 11th March, 1904.

THAT this Council hereby confirms the special order, being resolution No. 4 of 11th March, 1904, to issue fifteen debentures of £100 each, bearing interest at the rate of £4 10s. per centum per annum, to pay off an equal amount of debentures being consolidated at 4th May, 1904.

I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of the resolution passed at special meeting of the Southland County Council held on 15th April, 1904, confirming the resolution to issue fifteen debentures of £100 each to pay off an equal amount of debentures being consolidated at 4th May, 1904, to pay off an equal amount of debentures falling due at and before that date, such previous resolution being passed at a special meeting of the said Council held on 11th March, 1904.

GORE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Special Order making Special Rate.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Gore hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £6,000, authorised to be raised by the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Gore, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the North and South Wards water-supply, the said Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Gore hereby makes and levies a special rate of 4d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Borough of Gore; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

Dated this 21st day of March, 1904.

THE following special order, made by the Mangawhero Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

MANGAWHERO ROAD BOARD.

Special Order of the Mangawhero Road Board, passed this 13th Day of April, 1904.

RESOLVED, that the said Board do, by special order, make the following by-laws:—

By-laws of the Mangawhero Road Board, made in pursuance of the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and the amendments thereof, and “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and the amendments thereof, and in pursuance of all other powers enabling the said Board in that behalf:—

(1.) No person shall ride, lead, or drive any horse, or any vehicle drawn by a horse or horses, upon, over, or across any of the following bridges—namely, the bridge across the Upokongaro Stream at Makirikiri (Kennedy’s), or the bridge across the said stream on Field’s Track where it passes through the Georgetti Estate, or upon, over, or across any bridge now or for the time being under the control or management of the Board—at any pace except a walk.

(2.) No person shall drive or take any cattle upon, over, or across any bridge subject to the provisions of the last clause at any pace except a walk.

(3.) Every person who shall do, or cause or procure to be done, anything contrary to these by-laws or anything therein contained shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding £5.

In witness whereof the common seal of the Corporation of the Inhabitants of the Mangawhero Road District has been hereto affixed this 13th day of April, 1904.
