Appointing Day for closing under “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894.”

RANFURLY, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of March, 1904.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the local authorities of the Borough of Gore, being duly authorised by “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894,” to appoint by special resolution, in the month of January, one thousand nine hundred and four, the day on which shops in the said borough are to be closed in accordance with the said Act, have failed so to appoint a day:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by section ten of the said Act, do hereby appoint Wednesday to be the day on which shops shall be closed in the said borough in accordance with the said Act.

Land taken for a Native School at Kenana.

RANFURLY, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of March, 1904.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required for a certain public work, to wit, a Native school:

And whereas the Native owners have agreed to make a free gift of the said land to His Majesty the King, and it has been made to appear that such agreement is sufficient for the purposes intended to be effected thereby:

And whereas by an order of the Native Appellate Court, bearing date the twenty-fourth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and two, certain aboriginal natives, as in the said order mentioned, were declared to be the owners of the Kohumaru Number One Block, within which the said land is situated:

And whereas, as required by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” a map has been prepared showing accurately the position and extent of the said land, and such map is hereto attached:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1900,” and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the land shown upon the said map and described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of the said Native school, and shall vest in His Majesty the King, as from the thirtieth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and four.

Trustee for the Skipper’s Point Public Cemetery appointed.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

WILLIAM SAMUEL JOHNSTON

to be a Trustee, in the place of Richard Tripp, resigned, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Skipper’s Point Public Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons previously appointed by His Excellency the Governor.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-fourth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and four.

Revoking the Setting-apart of Land for Mining Purposes exclusively in the Land Districts of Nelson and Westland.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by section twenty of “The Mining Act, 1898,” and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby revoke the notice issued on the sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and one, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 18, of the seventh day of the same month and year, setting apart the unoccupied Crown lands described in the Schedule thereto for mining purposes exclusively.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-seventh day of February, one thousand nine hundred and four.

Land temporarily reserved in the Auckland Land District.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Auckland Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purpose in the said Schedule specified at the end of the description of the land so intended to be temporarily reserved.
