Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Ekatahuna County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

EKETAHUNA COUNTY COUNCIL.

THE following is the result of the poll of ratepayers of the Mangahao Bridge Loan District, taken on Wednesday, the 16th day of December, 1903, on a proposal to raise a loan of £110 for the purpose of building a bridge over the Mangahao River, at Marima, in conjunction with the Pahiatua County :—

Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 4; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 2; informal, 1.

As the number of votes recorded for the proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of votes recorded, I therefore declare the proposal carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Sumner, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BOROUGH OF SUMNER.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments; and in the matter of a proposal to raise by way of special loan the sum of £3,750 for the purpose of the construction of reservoirs, extension of water-mains to parts of the borough not supplied with water, the purchase of water-pipes, all necessary hydrants, sluice-valves, and fittings, and a supply of water-meters, and generally for the purpose of extending and improving the water-supply system of the borough.

Notice is hereby given that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Sumner was taken on the 15th day of December, 1903, in the matter of the above proposal, and resulted as follows :—

Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 66; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, 21; informal vote, 1.

As the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll is in favour of the proposal, I therefore declare the proposal carried.

MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.

SPECIAL LOAN of £100 for the purpose of metalling part of Mount Munro Road West.

RESULT of a poll taken on the 12th day of December, 1903, on a proposal of the above Council to raise a loan of £100, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” to metal part of Mount Munro Road West :—

Number of valid votes for the proposal, 5; number of valid votes against the proposal, nil; number of informal votes, nil.

The number of valid votes in favour of the proposal being more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I therefore hereby declare the proposal carried.

AKAROA AND WAINUI ROAD BOARD.

Notice is hereby given that at a poll taken on Monday, 21st December, 1903, on a proposal of the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board to raise a loan of £6,000 under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Acts, 1901,” and its amendments, for road-metalling purposes, the following valid votes were recorded :—

For the proposal, 94; against the proposal, 12.

As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I hereby declare the said proposal carried.

Town Hall, Westport, 18th December, 1903.

To the Hon. the Colonial Treasurer.

I, SAMUEL JAMES RILEY, Mayor of the Borough of Westport, in the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, pursuant to the provisions of section 13 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” give you notice that on the 17th day of December, 1903, a poll was taken under the provisions of the said Act on a proposal of the Council of the said borough to borrow by way of special loan under the provisions of the said Act the sum of £2,000, a copy of which proposal is next hereinafter set out.

WESTPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Proposed Special Loan for the Completion of the Waterworks.

The Council of the Borough of Westport hereby gives public notice that such Council proposes to borrow, by way of special loan within the meaning of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the sum of £2,000, to be expended in the completion of the waterworks and the extension of the reticulation of water-mains within the Borough of Westport. It is proposed that such loan shall be for a period of forty-one years, with interest to be paid at the rate of 4 per cent. per annum; and the Council proposes to pledge as security for the said loan of £2,000 a special annual-recurring rate of 1d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property within the Borough of Westport. It is not proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan or the interest for the first year.

And I also give you notice that the number of votes recorded upon the taking of the said poll for and against the said proposal was as follows :—

For the proposal, 131; against the proposal, 18; informal, 2: Majority for the proposal, 113.

And it being provided by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” that in the case of a borough a majority of the total votes recorded shall suffice to carry the proposal, I hereby give further notice that the said proposal of the Council of the Borough of Westport was duly carried upon the taking of such poll.
