APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE (No. 102).

To the Warden of the Otago Mining District, at Lawrence.

PURSUANT to “The Mining Act, 1898,” the undersigned, John Roche, of Blue Spur, Miner; Thomas Sing Lee, of Tuapeka Flat, Miner; Walter James Dwyer, of Lawrence, Storeman; and Cornelius Moloney, of Lawrence, Hotel-manager, hereby apply for a license for a water-race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Dates and numbers of miners’ rights: 13/10/1903, 41720; 15/10/1903, 41721; 15/10/1903, 41722; 15/10/1903, 41723.

Locality of the race and of its starting and terminal points: Commencing in west side of Gabriel’s Gully between James Casey’s and Matthews’s residences, taking water from said gully, following course of old water-race through Crown lands on west side of Gabriel’s Gully; thence through freehold Section 143, Block XIX., Tuapeka East District, belonging to Robert Young; thence through Crown lands; thence through freehold Section 27, Block XIX. aforesaid, belonging to John Efford Pope; thence through freehold Section 33, Block XIX. aforesaid, belonging to Catherine O’Driscoll; thence across high road to Blue Spur; thence through freehold Section 39, Block XIX. aforesaid, belonging to Thomas Roughan; thence through freehold Section 53, Block XIX. aforesaid, belonging to Allan Mitchell; thence through freehold Section 54, Block XIX. aforesaid, belonging to William Dimmock; thence through freehold Section 43, Block XIX. aforesaid, belonging to Wallace Varcoe; thence through freehold Section 38, Block XIX. aforesaid, belonging to James White; thence through freehold Sections 83, 56, and 47, Block XIX. aforesaid, belonging to Catherine Keppel; thence through freehold Section 4, Block XIX. aforesaid, belonging to J. Length and intended course of race: Four miles; southerly and south-westerly.

Points of intake: At head of race.

Estimated time and cost of construction: Partly constructed, as it consists of old race till it enters Section 27, Block XIX., Tuapeka East District; twelve months; £500.

Mean depth and breadth: Depth, 2 ft.; breadth, 3 ft.

Number of heads to be diverted: Eight heads.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Mining purposes.

Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.

Notice is hereby given that upon the hearing of the abovementioned application a certificate of abandonment of water-race held under license No. 5190, dated 8th October, 1894, granted to Thomas Jefferies, will be applied for, and may be granted unless cause to the contrary is shown. 981

NOTICE is hereby given that ALEXANDER MUTCH has been appointed Manager and Secretary of the Argyle Gold-dredging Company (Limited), Waikaka Valley, vice Donald McLennan, resigned.

THE SHELLBACK GOLD-DREDGING COMPANY (LIMITED).

NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of the above-named company, duly convened, and held on the 23rd day of October, 1903, the following extraordinary resolution was passed, viz.:

“That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meeting that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and accordingly the company be wound up voluntarily, and that Hugh Francis Doogan be and is hereby appointed Liquidator for the purpose of such winding-up.”

RED QUEEN GOLD-MINING COMPANY (LIMITED), (IN LIQUIDATION), WESTPORT.

NOTICE is hereby given that at a special general meeting of the shareholders in the above-named company, held on the 5th day of October, 1903, the following special resolution was passed, and duly confirmed at a similar meeting held on the 21st day of October, 1903:

“That the Red Queen Gold-mining Company (Limited) be voluntarily wound up.”

AT a meeting of shareholders in above company held at their registered office, Invercargill, on Monday, 7th September, 1903, the following resolution, as previously notified, was carried:

“That all unpaid calls be collected, which, together with cash in hand, be divided pro ratâ among the creditors, and the company be wound up.”

NOTICE is hereby given that a General Meeting of shareholders in this company will be held at the Midland Chambers, Greymouth, on Wednesday, the 20th day of January, 1904, at 8 p.m., for the purpose of receiving the Liquidator’s report and statement of account.

NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 202 of “The Companies Act, 1882,” that a General Meeting of the members of the above-named company will be held at Zealandia Chambers, No. 26, Dowling Street, Dunedin, on Monday, the 11th day of January, 1904, at 2.30 o’clock in the afternoon, for the purpose of having an account laid before them showing the manner in which the winding-up has been conducted and the property of the company disposed of, and of hearing any explanation that may be given by the Liquidator; and also of determining by extraordinary resolution the manner in which the books, accounts, and documents of the company, and of the Liquidator thereof, shall be disposed of.
