RESOLVED, that a special order be now made declaring gorse (Ulex europæus) to be a noxious weed, for the purposes of “The Noxious Weeds Act, 1900,” within the Hikurangi Road District.

COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.
SPECIAL ORDER made by the Cook County Council at a special meeting held on Friday, 28th August, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting held on the 2nd October, 1903 :—
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in them in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1886,” the Cook County Council do hereby resolve as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,300, authorised to be raised by the Cook County Council under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for surveying and constructing a dray-road from the Mangatu River, at Whatatutu, to Barron’s Section No. 6, Mangatu I., the said Cook County Council do hereby make and levy a special rate of 1d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Mangamaiia Special District, comprising Lot 1 of 1 Subdivision 8, Subdivision 6, Subdivisions 5 and 4, Lot 3 of Subdivision 1, Lot 2 of Subdivision 1, all of Mangatu I. Block; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during a period equal to the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Cook was hereto affixed in the presence of—

I, JAMES CRAIGIE, Mayor of the Borough of Timaru, have the honour to notify you that the number of votes recorded at the poll of the electors of the Borough of Timaru, held, under the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” on Tuesday, the 13th day of October, 1903, for a loan of £6,000 for permanent improvements to the streets of the Borough of Timaru, was as follows: Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 343; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 62; informal votes, 7; total votes, 412: majority of valid votes for the proposal, 281: and that the said proposal was therefore carried.
