and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may
be selected on lease in perpetuity only, in accordance with the
provisions of section one hundred and twenty-one of the
said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metals,
minerals, or valuable stone ; and I do hereby also fix the
prices at which the said lands shall be leased, as mentioned
in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands
shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “ The
Land Act, 1892,” and “ The Mining Act, 1898,” and amend-
ments.

soil is a clay loam on clay subsoil; land has mostly been
ploughed and laid down in grass, which is now run out;
there is water in the small creek. Altitude, from 650 ft. to

Open land, sloping to hillside, partly ploughable; water in
small creek. Altitude, from 650 ft. to 1,000 ft.

RANKLEBURN SURVEY DISTRICT.

Land partly surface-sown; flat, rising to hillside in north-
east corner about Ravine Creek. Good water. Altitude,
650 ft. to 950 ft. About 48 acres of bush, mostly birch, best
timber being cut out. There is some Californian thistle on
this section. About three miles by road from Tapanui Post-
office.

About 13 acres bush land, mostly birch, cut out; the re-
mainder is open land, watered by small creeks. Altitude,
650 ft. to 700 ft. Stony in places; traces of thistle.

Sections 22 and 23 are distant from two miles and a quar-

Open land, flats rising to terraces; grass, tussock, and
fern. Altitude, 700 ft. to 950 ft. There is a good deal of
thistle on this section.

Mostly open land, with about 9 acres of bush. This sec-
tion is rather broken and cut up, and rough in parts, with
fern and manuka. Altitude, 700 ft. to 1,050 ft. Well watered.
Distant by road from Tapanui about about two miles.

The sections in Block IX., Rankleburn District, are all of
clay loam soil on clay subsoil.

GLENKENICH SURVEY DISTRICT.

Open tussock land, flat, agricultural; clay loam on clay
subsoil; intersected by mill-race. Altitude, about 650 ft.
Situated from one mile to one mile and a half from Tapanui

subsoil; intersected by mill-race. Altitude about 650 ft.

been ploughed and laid down in grass, now run out; stony
in places; mill-race runs through.

The above sections are distant from Tapanui Post-office
from one mile to one mile and a half by road.

Chiefly flat open country, rising at east end on to low
ferny terraces; about 14 acres of mixed bush, all cut out;
water in small creeks. Altitude, 700 ft. to 800 ft. Distant
about one mile and a half from Tapanui Post-office.

Partly open; about 59 acres bush; flat, rising to hillside
at east end; well watered by Brandy Creek; bush mixed,
mostly cut out. Altitude, 700 ft. to 950 ft. Distant about
two miles from Tapanui Post-office.

About 36 acres bush, chiefly manuka, remainder open,
with patches of fern; watered by Brandy Creek. This
section is rough and stony at south-east corner. Altitude,
750 ft. to 1,000 ft. Distant about two miles and a half from
Tapanui.

The soil on sections in this block is clay loam on clay
subsoil. The exposure is generally towards the west and
south-west.

IN exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me
by the one-hundred-and-eighty-ninth section of “ The
Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
appoint

DAVID BARRON,
WILLIAM DALLAS, and
HUGH HERRIES KIRKPATRICK

Commissioners to classify and report to me upon the rural
lands in the Otago Land District known as Runs numbers
353B, 368, 170, 170A, 199A, 199B, 446, 170B, 170C, 170D, and
170E, Sections numbers 1, 31, 58, 30, and 57, Block IV.,
22, 26, 18, 20, 21, and 27, Block VII., Table Hill Survey
District, 1, 18, 20, 35, 36, 37, and 38, Block IV., 12, 17,
and 18, Block XVII., Crookston Survey District, and 5,
Block VIII., Teviot Survey District, as provided by section
one hundred and eighty-nine of “ The Land Act, 1892,”
aforesaid.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this thirtieth day of October, one thousand nine
hundred and three.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
conferred on me by the twentieth section of “ The Re-
serves and Crown Lands Disposal and Enabling Act, 1896,”
I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby vest Reserve num-
ber 101, situate in the Town of Kanieri, and containing
one acre, more or less, in the following persons, whom I
hereby appoint in that behalf, that is to say,——

ALEXANDER HUTCHINSON, of Kanieri, Blacksmith ;
THOMAS BURNS, of Kanieri, Blacksmith ;
ALFRED DALE, of Kanieri, Carter ; and
WILLIAM BURROWS, of Kanieri, Miner,

to hold the said reserve in fee-simple, in trust, for the pur-
pose of a public hall, public library, reading-room, and
school of mines.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this thirty-first day of October, one thousand
nine hundred and three.
