Lands set apart for Settlement.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the seventy-third section of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901” (herein termed “the said Act”), it is, amongst other things, enacted that before certain moneys therein mentioned shall be expended upon any block of land it shall be necessary that the same be proclaimed as set apart for settlement:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of every power and authority enabling me in this behalf, and for the purposes of the said Act, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim the land described in the Schedule hereto as set apart for settlement.

As the same are delineated upon the plan marked as above mentioned, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured as above noted.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this third day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and three.

Importation of Flock prohibited.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of October, 1903.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the second section of “The Public Health Amendment Act, 1901 (No. 2),” it is enacted that the Governor may, by Order in Council, from time to time prohibit the importation into New Zealand of any material which in his opinion is likely to convey infectious diseases: And whereas it is expedient that the importation of the undermentioned material should be prohibited:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the said power and authority, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby order and declare that the importation into New Zealand of the material known as flock is hereby prohibited.

Conferring Jurisdiction on Native Land Court.

RANFURLY, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of November, 1903.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section fourteen of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” as amended by section forty-one of “The Native Land Claims Adjustment and Laws Amendment Act, 1901,” it is enacted that the Native Land Court shall, as regards all lands within the meaning of subsection ten of section fourteen aforesaid, have jurisdiction as in the said subsection mentioned: Provided that the Court shall not proceed to exercise such jurisdiction unless the Governor in Council shall by Order authorise the same to be done:

And whereas it is expedient that the Court should, for the purpose hereinafter mentioned, be authorised to exercise the jurisdiction conferred as aforesaid in respect of the land known as Lot No. 3, Parish of Katikati, containing 32 acres, more or less:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby authorise the said Court to exercise in respect of the said Lot No. 3, Parish of Katikati, jurisdiction to determine who are the Natives entitled beneficially to such land by virtue of the trust expressed in the Crown grant thereof, and to order the inclusion of such Natives in the title, either together with or in lieu of the nominal owners or any of them, and for the purpose aforesaid to order the cancellation or amendment of any existing instrument of title, and the issue of such new Crown grants or other instruments of title as may be necessary, and generally to exercise in respect of the said land the jurisdiction and powers conferred on the Native Land Court by subsection ten of section fourteen of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” and its amendments, so far as the same may be necessary or applicable for the purpose aforesaid.

Fixing Date of Payment of Land-tax for 1903-4.

RANFURLY, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifth day of November, 1903.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority vested in him under “The Land and Income Assessment Act, 1900,” and “The Land-tax and Income-tax Act, 1903,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and determine that the respective duties leviable under the said Acts by way of land-tax, and of further graduated land-tax, shall be paid in one sum on Friday, the twenty-seventh day of November, one thousand nine hundred and three.

And in further pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority aforesaid, and with the like advice and consent as aforesaid, His Excellency doth also determine that the place where the said duties of land-tax shall be payable shall be the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, at the Government Buildings, Wellington. and that notice to the foregoing effect shall be given by the said Commissioner accordingly.

Rural Lands in the Otago Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule here-to shall be open for selection on and after the twenty-third day of December, one thousand nine hundred and three;
