to the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six

The foregoing resolution was duly confirmed at a meeting
of the Council held on Saturday, 9th November, 1901.
I certify that the foregoing particulars are true and cor-
rect, and that the street referred to has not previously been
metalled.

Borough Council, is published in accordance with the
provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

TIMARU BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Borough Abattoir.—Special Order for making Additional Special Rate.
At a special meeting of the Timaru Borough Council, held
on the 12th day of January, 1903, at the Borough Council
Chambers, Timaru, at 8.30 o’clock p.m. : Proposed by John
Hole, seconded by William Priest,—
That this Council do now resolve that the following resolu-
tion—viz., “That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
vested in it in that behalf by ‘The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1900,’ ‘The Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1900,’
and ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ the Timaru
Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That for the
purpose of providing interest, sinking fund, and other
charges on an additional loan of £1,000 authorised to be
raised by the Timaru Borough Council under the provisions
of ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ for the purpose of
completing an abattoir for the Borough of Timaru, the said
Timaru Borough Council hereby makes and levies an addi-
tional special rate of ³⁄₁₆d. in the pound sterling upon the
rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Borough of
Timaru, comprising all that area within the boundaries set
forth in the Third Schedule to the Proclamation published
on page 1192 of the New Zealand Gazette of the 28th of
July, 1898, numbered 57; and that such additional special
rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of
such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of
January and the 1st day of July in each and every year
during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one
years, or until the loan is fully paid off; that a special meet-
ing of the said Council be called for and held on the 12th day
of January, 1903, at the Borough Council Chambers, Timaru,
at 8.30 o’clock p.m., for the purpose of confirming the fore-
going resolution”—which said resolution was adopted by
the Council at a special meeting thereof held on the 8th day
of December, 1902, be now confirmed as a special order, and
that the common seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.
Passed by the Council of the Borough of Timaru, this 12th
day of January, 1903.

Notice under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”
THE following is the result of the poll taken this 24th day of
January, 1903, on the proposal to borrow £700 from the
Government for a period of twenty-six years at 4½ per cent.
per annum, for the purpose of metalling various roads and
for other work in the West Mauku Ward of the Mauku Road
District:—
Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 31;
number of votes recorded against the proposal, 9; number of
informal votes, 1.
As the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal
is more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes
recorded, we therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of valid
votes recorded, I declare the proposal to be carried.

Elliot Road District taken on Saturday, the 24th January,
1903, on a proposal to raise a loan of £500 for the purpose
of making about three-quarters of a mile of the Elliot Road,
from Cowling Road to Frankley Road :—
Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 17;
number of votes recorded against the proposal, 22.
I do hereby declare the said proposal rejected.
