Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-fifth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and three; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Flat swampy land; one-half fern. About nine miles from Waimate North.

Broken forest land of fair quality, and well watered. Situated within the Auckland Special Settlement Block, fronting Opanake–Hokianga Road, about twenty-two miles from Opanake Railway-station.

Altitude, 100 ft. above sea-level. Good undulating country, suited for pastoral purposes; covered with heavy forest, chiefly kahikatea, puriri, and nikau. Situated about one mile and a half from Rangiahua Post-office and eleven miles from Okaihau. Access by formed road to within 20 chains of south-east corner of the land.

Fixing Sittings of the District Court at Pakiatau.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in this behalf enabling me, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings of the District Court of Wairarapa shall be held as follows, in addition to those previously fixed and appointed:—

In the Courthouse, Pakiatau: For civil and criminal business, on the third Thursday in March and June, and the fourth Thursday in September.

Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as aforesaid shall happen to be a holiday, then the Court appointed for that day shall be held on the first day thereafter not being a holiday.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-eighth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and three.

President of the Court of Arbitration appointed.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS His Honour Theophilus Cooper has resigned his appointment as President of the Court of Arbitration, and his resignation has been accepted:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by sections sixty-one, sixty-six, and sixty-eight of “The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1900,” and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor hereby appoints

His Honour FREDERICK REVANS CHAPMAN

to be President of the Court of Arbitration in the stead of His Honour Theophilus Cooper.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-fifth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and three.

Preparation of Jury Lists for District Court, Stratford.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by section forty-nine of “The Juries Act, 1880,” I, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby order and direct that, for the occasion of the sittings of the District Court to be held at Stratford aforesaid for the trial of civil and criminal cases, the Jury Officer (being the Clerk of the Magistrate’s Court) at Stratford, and all Justices of the Peace, Registrars, Clerks, or other officers of Courts, constables, and Sheriffs, shall, on or before the twenty-fourth day of November next, do and perform all such acts, matters, and things in and towards preparing, collecting, allowing, sending, and delivering the lists of men qualified and liable to serve on juries within the Jury District of Stratford, and making out the jury books for such jury district, as by the said Act are required to be done.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-eighth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and three.

Post-office where Miners’ Rights may be issued.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by “The Mining Act, 1898,” and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the Post-office at the undermentioned place to be a post-office at which miners’ rights may be issued by the Postmaster in charge of such post-office, viz.:—

LIVINGSTONE, Oamaru.
